I keep coming across the use of the renault 1.9 in the suzuki gv as a 1.9 ddis.

They changed the mounting layout etc. being seriously cramped

How compatible is the renault version to the suzuki?

top end - valves etc, head, cam

bottom end - block, crank, pistons

position of exhausts, intake pipes, turbo etc

are there different versions of the suzuki - I have seen references to F9Qb and c, possibly air con or not models on the suzuki block

thanks in anticpation

These engines were never designed to fit inline, only across the engine bay. So yes, quite cramped. There may be a code which states the fitting style included in the engine number.

Thanks Richard, yes it's all about how much money you want to throw into your hobby ;)
As for parts for the F9Q, you can get it all from Renault and much cheaper of course. Ebay is my favourite hunting ground. :D

Buy anything for your Suzuki from a dealer and they just add $$$ to the price.
Nissan X-Trail's also run the engine, so check prices there also.

There is a marked improvement on both pick up and torque. It is also easier starting, and i think this is because it increases the fuel line pressure.

Without the chip, she's a bit slow at takeoff from the lights, but plug the chip in and off she goes :)

There are various chips out there, and price varies. I was very lucky to find mine on ebay, taken from a GV, for $1.00 plus delivery.
