Taller tyres on Vitara

I'm considering getting a new style Vitara as I need something a bit more fuel efficient and stable than my 2002 Grand Vitara as a second vehicle.

The 18,5 cm ground clearance on the new Vitara is a little low compared to my GV's stock 21 cm ground clearance which is a perfect amount of clearance for my needs.

The sales person at the Suzuki dealership told me it's no problem to put larger diameter tyres on the Vitara to give it a bit more ground clearance. He told me it's possible to fit tyres that will give it almost the same ground clearance as the Grand Vitara. It was the first time I heard that and frankly it seemed as if he was just trying to sell me the car and tell me what I wanted to hear.

So my question is: have any of you fitted larger tyres to the Vitara without the need for a lot of modifications to account for rubbing?

Well, I went to another dealer in another town today. They told me that there's quite some space in the wheel arches and that you can fit a tire which is 1,5 cm taller than stock. That would give me 20 cm of ground clearance which would be just about enough for my needs.

Test drove a 2015 all-grip 1.6 gasoline without turbo today. It was generally okay but it had a clonking sound when I took it out on an uneven grass field. Guess it is a worn balljoint somewhere. It had 75.000 km on the clock. Will test drive some more in the coming weeks.

if its 3 cm in diameter bigger then its 1.5 cm "taller" relative to the axle / ride height, so 18.5 + 1.5 = 20.0

clarification on what the o/p means by "taller" is required, is he talking sidewall or overall?
