Thanks Ken,

I'm in Australia. I've read through this forums feeds and attempted a most of the links, perhaps I'm not using the correct updates or not waiting long enough?

Do you know of the correct update for vehicles imported to Australia?

Current status, I'm looking at buying this: Grundig GX-3800 unboxing PLUS Review CarPlay Android Auto Stinger Electronics by @carstereochick - YouTube

Cheers,
Shell
Hello.

You need a firmware version starting 17xx for your region (18xx is for European models)

What make and model is your phone, and which version of Android is it running (9, 10, 11, 12) - some phones by OPPO and realme have had a whole bunch of issues with AA on Android 11.

Trying first with your current firmware, have you paired your phone with the SLDA for Bluetooth, does it work ok (calls, music etc)

Have you installed the most recent release of Android Auto on your phone?

Do you have a DECENT quality usb cable to plug the phone into the car with - any issues at all with quality or condition of cable will bugger the job up for sure.

To get Android Auto set up on mine I had to:
Install Android Auto app on phone
Pair phone to headunit first using Bluetooth.
Then with the SLDA turned on and phone connected on Bluetooth, connect the usb cable to complete the setup.
Allow permissions on the phone when it asks to access things like contacts, call history etc, etc.
You will need to be parked with handbrake on to do the Android Auto setup (to stop crazy people trying to do it while driving I guess).

On my Oneplus 6 (on Android 9) I also set the default usb mode to file transfer.

To do the fw update you will need the download linked on post 90 of this thread, and then follow the instructions quoted in post 92 to extract the files properly and then initiate the update - I used USB flash drive for mine without issue, but others have only had success using SD card.
You should only have either a usb stick or SD card connected - remove any device from the connection that you aren't using (Inc map SD card)
I've not come across anyone who has suffered catastrophe doing the update, but it is totally at your own choice to proceed (if it goes belly up, as far as I know, the SLDA has a fall back firmware partition to recover from, but you may need to leave it turned off for an hour or two for it to recover)

I wanted to update the SatNav Maps in my 4 year old Vitara SZ-T which is an ex Suzuki UK Company Car I bought with 4k on the clock. I obtained a Suzuki SLDA Upgrade Kit SD Card 39921-54PA6 from eBay for £22.50 (inc. delivery) as for a SatNav Upgrade my Suzuki Dealer quoted a compatible "aftermarket option" for £100.00 + VAT, and a genuine Suzuki Upgrade for a quite unbelievable £356.32 + Vat! (Do they ever actually find Customers daft enough to pay those rip-off prices?) So I followed the helpful guidance in this thread meticulously, and whilst the SatNav is using the Map Data on the new SD Card, no SLDA Upgrade began at all despite my several attempts, and I remain using my original Version 0850_160812. The only obvious new "Installation" is a quick access Button in the center of the screen. If I replace the original 39921-54PA2 Map Data SD Card in the SatNav it shows " No Map Data." Does anyone have any suggestions for this weirdness please, a faulty SD card being the obvious one, but the Map Data is being detected and used, so perhaps the Spec of the vehicle is blocking any Upgrade?

AFAIK the upgrade kit is to enable sat nav on the SLDA head unit where it wasn't enabled as an option from new (it was standard kit for higher spec trim levels)

If satnav was already enabled on your Vit, by running a newer version of the upgrade kit maybe you have only updated the nav app (not the SLDA firmware), which has made it incompatible with the old map set?

A new map card (eBay or otherwise) is just that - a newer set of maps.

SLDA firmware updating is an entirely different and separate thing.

To do the firmware update you will need the download and instructions quoted in post 92 to extract the files properly and then initiate the update.

Yeh, the sellers on the bay seem to list the cards under several titles - no idea how many are true upgrade kits as opposed to just new map sets.

Glad you are all sorted.

Firmware update from 0850 would be needed if you ever decide to use Carplay or Android Auto as the older firmwares don't support them very well / at all 👍🏻

@Ticking_Fox, thanks for your support on these forums.
Just to follow up what @Shells said, I think I'm having a similar issue, as I've tested a few phones and Android 9 and 10 will work with Android Auto, but Android 11 and 12 I'm getting 'check usb connection' and constant flickering of connections, as well as android auto not starting.

Is it common that a firmware upgrade will fix this sort of thing? I'm currently driving a 2018 Ignis, with version 1750.2_170730.
Otherwise, I've booked in with Suzuki for next Tuesday to have a look but would prefer it fixed before then if possible.

@Freddyg103 There seems to be quite a number of issues with android 11 and 12 causing AA problems with many brands of phone from Samsung to OPPO to Google pixels (and more) on multiple brands of head unit.

Seems to be a real minefield at the mo as some of the issues are the AA app, some are manufacturer firmware, some get fixed with app and/or firmware updates, some don't, some can be worked around and some not.

Some also seem to be cable related - even where the very same cable works fine on 9 and 10, it can suddenly become an issue on 11 and 12. Makes no sense, I know - but replacing the (working ok with 9 and 10) cable is how some people have reported fixing their AA issues.

I've even read of a couple of people who have resolved issues on Android 11 by reverting to using a micro USB cable and a micro USB to USB-C adapter to plug into the phone.

Like I said, a real minefield.

There is a good bug tracker for AA on this website which gets regular updates for bug status and fix availability:
Android Auto bugs, issues & problems tracker: Here's the current status

Hope you find a fix without heaps of hassle 👍🏻

THANK YOU ALL IN ADVANCE
Hi, if you go to main screen press/hold cog wheel button until firmware shows up and then you can see what firmware you have and you might have to upgrade, hope that makes sense.

Tried holding and I got the same panels up . I held on each line system setting and the open source.

Nothing else coming up even holding for 30 seconds +
This is the screen that shows up on mine after I hold button in.
