Purchased my new 1.6 petrol vitara 4 weeks ago ,overall very pleased but the road and wind noise is very loud especially on motorways has anyone had any experience in soundproofing this car ,I owned a vw tiguan before which is a very quiet car
If you don't go seriously off-roading you should try the Michelin Primacy 4, or even the Michelin Pilot Sport 4, both of which are rated as the quietest tyres/tires money can buy. They also offer great roadholding, braking, wet weather grip, and long wear.I did sound deadening of the front doors in my Vitara just recently. It helped to block some of the road noise. If anyone's interested, I used three mats of Vibrofiltr and one SilentCoat Sound Absorber mat split between two doors. I did this for the new front speakers but like I said, it also helps to filter some incoming noise. I considering doing the same for back doors.
Before that I bought new tires, that made a surprisingly big difference too! The old ones were pretty toast and they made much more noise.
As others suggested, I would start with the new tires. Recently I also purchased Michelin Primacy 4+ and I am very pleased with the result - there is less noise and the ride quality is noticeably better than OEM factory set.I have the same problem and its loud. I bough and fitted the original windshields from Suzuki and it did not help. Suzuki has no answers for this....can you imagine.
