Geo Tracker with LSx V8
here is an Idea for Trackers

Chevy V8
LS 1, LS2 , LS3, LS4, LS6, LS7, LS9

LS3 and LS4 have AFM = drop down to 4 cyl operation.

and 6L90 - 6 Speed Auto

What does that mean?

LS3 = 376 cid produces 430hp & 424lb-ft
LS4 5.3L = 325 cid produces 330 hp & 323 lb·ft
and can drop down to 4 cyl operation.

In the 6L90, 1st gear is 4.03,
compared to 2.48 in TH350.

so that makes the engine seem like it is 50% bigger
= even More power.

Tracker weigh 2340
69 Camaro weigh 3350

At 2340 lbs and 430 hp
and a Trans
that makes the engine seem like it is 650 hp.

a Tracker can be the Ultimate Muscle car.

When you dont want all of that Power,
these engines have Active Fuel management,
you can go into DOD mode,
and run around town on just 4 cylinders.

The Best of both worlds.

What would such a Tracker look like?

GM is having to lower fuel costs, called CAFE 2 , and CARBON FOOT PRINT.

to do that with a slush pump, takes:
1: dynamic oil pump so 2.5Kw is not wasted at a read light
2: up to 8 speeds. (google that, see all car companies doing that for same reasons)

you sound like you get gasoline for free, and love infinite power.
yes, we all too, can divide and get power to weight ratios. no prob.

why put all that power in a HIGH CG tin box kite?
what is the point?
(for experience yes, but what else?)

why not just get the Camero.

i to am a fan of Variable displacement technology "DOD", very much so.

you did not mention 4wd once or offroad.
so is this just street dream a high CG ,jeep look, street car?

I have driven my Tracker, in the Mud, on a Hill,
and it is just 2wd,
and it had Street tires.

and thinking back on that Mud and Hill,
I wonder Why I didnt get Stuck,
but I guess it is because Trackers are so Lite,
they Float on the Mud.

besides 99% of my driving is Street

One day I want to buy a 4wd Tracker,
so I can drive in on 2wd and when I get Stuck,
I can drive out in 4wd.

in the mean time,
for that 99% of driving on the Street,
I think having the Option of 4 Cyl economy,
and V8 Power,
is a Great Idea!

Tracker handles like a go-cart

Tracker handles like a go-cart

Chevy guys will put an LS V8 in just about anything.
Case in point?
Check out this awesome Geo Tracker
powered by a 350-hp LS1 Corvette engine.
The swap and customization was the brainchild of LS1Blazer
who can be found on the LS1Tech.com forum.

Originally, the Geo Tracker came with a 1.6-liter four cylinder.

To handle the power of the LS1,
the builder had to beef up the rear end and transmission.

We wondered if there was too much power
that the thing would end up on it’s back.

but LS1Blazer commented on the Jalopnik feature
and say the Tracker “handles like a go-cart with hardly any body roll.

Traction is not an issue at all
due to the weight transfer and the 4 link suspension.”

Great idea, as long as every road you are driving on is a straight away drag strip. Try hitting a curve in that sucker, and watch her fly. Handling in a Tracker is sh*t just with the little 1.6 in it - I can only imagine what it would (or wouldn't) be like with a v8.
