Does you mean "the engine stop/start doesn't kick in"? That's the case when it's cold.

As to the hybrid battery boosting performance, that might be the case but the 2021> Model has a different system and thus can't be compared to my 2018. I can't say I've noticed a difference in cold weather but the effect is less in any case on a pre-2021 and is only readily seen by looking at the gauge.


EDIT - just found your terminology in the handbook index - hadn't appreciated that before:

 

The stop start does not kick in in cold hot/ conditions,my handbook says the same,but until the car gets thoroughly warmed up/ battery charged up,the hybrid "boost" does not activate.

Exactly the same with my 2021 car too. In warmer times my car would apply some hybrid boost as I climb the hills close to the house on my way to work. Now that it's colder, there's zero assistance until much later in the journey. Suspect it has something to do with the temp of the Li-Ion battery under the passenger seat, as Gloucester highlighted in the user manual. Good to know that it's not just me then....

FWIW, the 48v Hybrid setup in the Swift Sport that my Dealer has loaned me whilst mine is being fixed also does the same thing, so it must be a Suzuki thing!

Reading this thread led me into a quick Google search on cold weather effects on EVs - I've long been aware of the effects of cold weather on lead acid batteries, and curious as to if lithium batteries suffered the same way - short answer is they do, and it can be a big issue for "pure EV" owners.

 

Yes, Lithium batteries have a minimum Operating temp.

 

They certainly do, got a lithium in my bike, it needs a "wake up" in winter
Crank and barely turns over, stop, wait 10 seconds, crank again after battery has warmed up from current draw and its fine.
Nissan leaf lose 20 km of range instantly when they get below 10 degrees regain it as battery pack warms up.
