Hello Toe,

Had a look in the manual I downloaded and it it looks there are some marks above the crankshaft pulley. I tried to insert a picture but it would not let me.

I cant remember where I found my manual. There is a definite procedure to it as well.

Hope this helps,

Karl

suzuki g16b ignition timing procedure

the procedure have something to do with the 4 diagnostic wires in the connector under the fuse panel in the engine bay ...
I read somewhere* joining two of those wire should do it
The connector is a 4 pin square plug with 4 wires one black , black/white ,brown and brown/white ..
The brown ones both measured 12.0v exactly
But sadly I bridged the wrong ones brown and black and blew some fuses
Lost power to everything and won't start

Since you have a 1996 model it should have an OBD-II connector under the dash somewhere, there are no wires to short together to make the check engine light (CEL) flash, you will need to buy or borrow an OBD-II reader to read the codes in the computer.

It should look like this:

Shorting wires under the dash will result in (like what happened) blown fuses and/or fried parts, that only works on certain pre-OBD-II systems (1995 and older) so please don't try that on any car that is 1996 and newer.

But, glad you found the blown fuse I wish Suzuki had put the under the dash fuse box in a much more accessible location.
