Hello,

When I put the transfer to 4h o 4l the 4x4 light is not comming up anymore.

I checked and it looks like the cable or sensor is unplugged I look over the engine and from the bottom as well trying to find the other end of the connector but I could not see it anywhere.

Can any one tell me where should I look for the other end of the connector??

Here it is an picture

that is exactly what I did, the picture I posted is the end of the cable, starting in the transfer case up to the front (back of the engine if you are in front of the car hood)

But it is there where I cannot see anywhere the other end of the connector.
So I noticed that is like a three pieces cable, there is a little cable that comes out from the transfer it has a swicth (little one) so you connected it with the middle cable, this cable goes to the back of the engine and at this end it has another swithc with a different size connector (bigger see the picture) where is this connectos suppouse to be plug in?

No it is not ther I just went and check and no, it seems like the connector is not present, wich I find very difficult because usually all those cables follow a single line of severall cables cover with tape or a plastic cover.

It may be that is just hidden pretty well :-D

not coming up anymore.
any more , means it did? , and when did it , last week, back in 95.?

we have the full spec. on this car.
the tranny has its own harness that runs the top center of tranny
and to transfer case.
there are no relays involved here. it goes to a light.

dash light has power
the 4wd light wire is orange black.
it goes to the xfr case.
the fsm shows this path clearly in chapter 8a

1: bad lamp
2: bad wires (connectors)
3: bad switch

unplug the top switch , top center rear on XFR case
short the 2 pins , key on.
does 4wd lamp light,
Yes, switch is bad.
no, then move foward to next connector and short the next connector pins
with same color.
lamp on, yes, bad connector
lamp off , move forward.
keep doing that until you get to the lamp

i must assume all other lamps glow. when expected.
4wd lamp shares power feed from all lamps in cluster.
except turn, Highbeam, and park lamps.

start at 8a -81
then 8a-44-2 and last 44-3

its online this. and was mentioned in the sticky1 , 96fsm,

I just fixed it, thank you every body for the information it was very helfpull, but the key was on checking out another Tracker, followed the cable and see where the other end of the connector was.

FYI: The transfer case has the switch and a connector on top of it, then the cable is routed to the right side of the engine (passenger side) there is a black metal piece that funtions as a engine mount or similar, behind that it is the other end of the connector is not visible, you have to put your hand in and touch until you find it.

Attach are some pictures, after I connected it, now the 4x4 light is GREEN AGAIN!!!
