LOL…Thought I saw fluttering vacuum and rpm at idle. ???

Bex, that's oil pressure from the gallery...

Oil pressure made the idle fluctuate up and down? Hmmm….And was that background music or the sound of the engine?
I am thinking about subscribing to your YT channel……:geek:

Oil pressure made the idle fluctuate up and down?
How about the other way around, if the engine is warm, idle rpm usually has a noticeable impact on oil pressure - I used to have a Mitsubishi, on which the oil pressure was within spec., but at idle was around 15 psi, which is lower than any of my Suzukis (19~21 depending on ambient), and the reason was the Mitsu idled at 600 rpm, the Suzi were 750, crack the throttle open enough to bring the revs up to 750 and the pressure would go up.

One of the "alarming" things about the Mitsu was the FSM had an idle oil pressure spec. - 29kpa or more, translates to 4.2 psi, a lot lower than I would be comfortable with.

Yes, of course that makes sense.…although I still felt that the engine wasn’t holding a good steady idle, but fluctuating….

What you felt felt is totally right, your eyes are not lying...

But it's a test rig where they are testing the engine block they sell, not the setup of the ignition/EFI which they are not selling, the EGR is not even connected, etc.

And to keep it in context, we all know that theres already a dearth of used G16 motors and many of those sold have the dreaded crank web crack (Highway 83 stopped selling G16s because of that)

If i needed in todays market a G16B engine, this option would be high on my list, specially if my block was cracked while there is no way of knowing if a used block you buy to rebuild is crack-less either.

food for thought: setting up for production of these motors is a sizable investment, so there is a market for them and people are buying them. Do you think they are all clueless or less knowledgeable than you and me? I dont

In this vitara forum, i think its important that people know at least that this option exists and you dont have to scrap a car because there are so few motors available.
