Hey everyone,

I have a 2012 (2010 build, pre facelift) Suzuki Grand Vitara 3 Doors 2.4L Auto gasoline engine (LATAM version) without cruise control (only buttons on the left side of the Steering wheel). This is the original radio of the GV.

I've bought an aftermarket universal chinese radio with a 16 pin connector. I already installed it with a Suzuki Wiring harness adaptor and the speakers and radio are working properly.

The problem I'm having is that even if the harness is connected properly, I can't get the head unit to save my steering wheel buttons right, I'm wondering is this related to this connector attached to the main wiring harness from the car?

Is this related to the steering wheel buttons not recording right on the "learn buttons" app in the OEM Radio? Do I have to get a CANBUS adapter for this to work properly? Is this maybe a software problem on the Chinese radio?

Thanks in advance for your time!

Best,

Your guess is as good as ours.

It's generally a good idea to buy "technology" from a source that can support you if/when you run into difficulty, because when you don't know how it works, you need someone who does to guide you.

Right now, we have no idea what "aftermarket universal chinese radio" you bought, what Suzuki wiring harness adapter you used, if the two of them are compatible with one another or the steering wheel controls on your car.

Surely the aftermarket universal chinese radio came with a manual that tells you what needs to be connected to what - does it tell you which wires are for the steering wheel adapter? Are those wires in the 16 pin connector? Do they connect to anything on the Suzuki side of the harness?

You need four pairs of wires for two pairs of speakers, so eight, three more - ground, switched power, unswitched power, total of eleven to make a basic radio work, what are the other five on YOUR radio for?

The "iso" adapter cables do not generally bring the steering wheel controls thru to the new head. I have detailed this re the 3G and my head unit install in other threads. You heed to manually join into the appropriate wires depending on the way your head unit works. Some will need an adapter, some won't.

Also, the vehicle steering wheel buttons come from the 20 pin (GND) and 19 pin (SW signal), as to this harness wiring diagram. It appears that to connect SW buttons you only need one wire for the signal.

Also, the wiring diagram for the head unit contains two pins for SW buttons (key 1 and key 2). For the Suzuki I'm guessing you only need to connect the first one.

I'm inclined to believe there is a software problem with the HU because it allows me to register the first button with no problem but then it stops recording the other buttons. As I am able to click one button and be shown in the HU (even if I do it again with other button).

Thanks for your responses, if I'm making a wrong assumption, please let me know.

You need to determine if you head unit detects key 1 wire to ground, or to +12 and wire the steering wheel controls accordingly.
In my case it detects to 12V so I wired key 1 to 20 and fed 12V from the acc switched line to pin 19

Hey! It detects key 1 (signal) to pin 19 and ground for pin 20.

The issue was that the wiring harness had key 2 line connected to Antenna amplifier, so all problems were solved by cutting key 2 line and attaching the antenna pin to the ant amplifier in the radio.

Thanks for your time reviewing my post.

Can someone please provide the details of all the 5 pins of this connector G243?
I want to know which pin is for triggering the front camera and which pin is for triggering the reverse camera??
Please help 🙏 🙏 🙏
Go back to the post where you pulled the image, the pin out for the connector is there, and it has nothing to do with cameras.

See screen shot attached, nothing to do with camera
