I'm at my wits end with this. I had it investigated in the dealership, who said the actual hardware is fine, but the software is out of date. I updated the software to 1890 on my own and it still doesn't work. I often get the error stating my connection is unstable, so I still think it's something to do with the hardware being faulty. I tried the usb debugging option, but that didn't work. What else can I try? Should I need to buy a high data transfer cable? I don't know what to do and it's driving me mad!

have you updated to the latest version of Android Auto. You'll need to google it as Google Play won't automatically update you. I wouldn't bother with the cable, I tried it with the one that came with my phone and it didn't work, but a £3 one from Wilkos connects everytime.

Tried this numerous times now without success (probably my ancient pc and my poor it skills). Anyone near Wigan got a known working download I could try or anyone willing to post me an sd card or usb stick with a good download …. At my expense obviously !!
Y
Thanks

Alright, so the dealer changed out the whole USB fitting and wiring, and it is updated, and android auto still just doesn't work. Has anyone tried it with an iPhone and found that it has just worked? I'm thinking of switching back to iPhone and this would sell me on it.

I have the Bosch SLDA unit, updated to v1890. The unit is being used extensively by various family members with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with no issues. The only potential issue I found is that if I connect the phone to the unit via the USB cable before turning on the engine, it sometimes (rarely) won't work. But when connecting the phone after the infotainment system is switched on, everything works fine. Other than that, I can only suggest trying different USB-C/Lightning cables, and cleaning the charging port on the phone.

another shout out to @Ticking_Fox; taken a 2016 Vitara S from 840 to 1880 today - all went smoothly (using an SD card), android auto now fully enabled (on a Pixel 5) without USB debugging. curiously, it wasn't having any of it with the 'official' cable but, once i noticed it wasn't even charging when plugged in, i swapped the cable out for a non OEM cable and it fired straight up. i also made the most of my upgrade activities and got the 54PA7 EU maps upgrade off flea bay too!

To do the infotainment update see the steps below (c/o vivavitara )

(Please note this is at your own discretion, in pretty much all instances everything goes as expected, but there is always a small but inherent risk involved when flashing firmware on any device)

Important note:
Firmwares that are versions 8xx or 18xx are for EU region only.
Ones that are 7xx need updating with the non EU version starting 17xx.

Don't use a USB 3 memory stick as some people have had issues using them

Read the instructions fully and carefully beforehand.

Follow the instructions fully.

Do not interrupt the update once it starts!!!!!!!!!!

Be patient, it takes quite a while- I updated mine from 850 to 1880 and it took about 35mins including the heart stopping bit where it gets so far and then appears to restart (I think it was doing an incremental update as the versions I went from to the newest one linked below are so far apart)

Whats needed?
• The files with the upgrade (unzipped and placed on usb stick, not in a folder, I think there are 14 files all-in)

Download 1880 update from here:
1.91 GB file on MEGA

• USB-stick formatted for FAT32-(min 4GB)

1 Unzip and store the files on the empty USB-stick

2 Take out the SD-card with the map-data from the SLDA-unit.

3 Turn ignition on to ACC (for cars with the Key-less option, press the Start button once without holding down the brake pedal and let the SLDA-unit boot

4 Insert the USB-stick.

5 push and hold the settings button for 10 seconds & then press ”Software version” (update may be automatically detected on usb stick after a min or 2 without needing to go into the settings software screen)

6 The update starts (you see this as the screen turns gray with some flickering for a couple of seconds), and then the upgrade screen is shown. In this screen there is a progress bar, which after a quite a while (10mins or more) eventually gets up to approx. 76% or thereabouts, and then turns black for a couple of MINUTES (it feels like that at least) and then the update process starts again from 0%, don't have a heart attack, this is normal

7 When the update is done , it tells you so with the text
”Please remove USB Stick” in the update-screen. Do what it tells you, remove the USB-stick

8 Now the system boots up (you see the Suzuki logo) this is going to happen two times. In my case the system shut down after the second boot up. I waited for 2-3 min, and then with fear in my heart I pushed the “Start button” it WORKED!

9 you may need to reset your radio stations and the clock

10 Finally shut down the ignition and put back the SD-card with the map data
Hi
So is my 2019 Baleno purchased in UK an an EU or Non EU Update ??

Yes you can - I took mine from 0850 straight to 1880.
I have transferred (extracted) the correct files across onto my usb however the system isnt picking anything up when i plug it in. No update is happening.

This one has 14 files but on the open source Bosch link when i extract that it only has 2.

A little confused as to what to do now.
Any help would be great

Hi all,

I have 1870_181026 version on my Baleno 2016. I live in Western Europe. Do I need an upgrade? If yes which version. Or could anyone please supply me the download link. Major thanks in advance. I hope anyone will reply.
