I recently replaced my back door exterior handle. I heard that it is a common fault when it comes to GV.
I simply bought an exterior plastic handle at Ebay:
Then, I wanted to install it, and I didn't know where to begin, so I went out looking in the forum...
Finally I found this post, which was helpful and got me started.
What I really needed are some pictures, to verify that I'm doing right.
So, I took pictures of the process, I hope it'll help someone here...
This is the broken handle (Please, don't mind the dirty vehicle )
In order to replace the exterior handle we need to open the interior cover.
To do it, first unscrew the locking button:
Now, unscrew the interior handle screw:
To remove the interior handle, simply pull the lever, the handle will slide slightly to the right, now you can pull the interior handle out (use a flat head screwdriver or something).
Note: Be very very careful, because the interior handle has 3 plastic clips and you can break them (I broke mine for example ).
Good, Now we need to take the back door cover, it is being held using 12 clips, carefully pull the cover (be careful not to break the pins):
The stripped door:
Now, you will be able to see the screws that hold the exterior handle:
Simple open these screws. There are 2 more plastic clips that holds the exterior handle, if you have clips replacements you can break them, if not, try to carefully pull them out.
Done. The back door handle has successfully removed.
Good luck.
