Red wire with white stripe? Anyone?

Any help is appreciated. After fixing most of the wiring behind the right tail light(passenger side) that mice ate up, I still have one extra wire- red with white stripe. It is slightly thicker than the rest. I have the chewed up end that runs from the left tail light(presumably). All the lights are working properly. Anyone know what this wire goes to or willing to pop out a tail lamp and have a look what it wires up to? I also have an extra wire that enters the rear quarter panel via a grommet near the passenger front seat. It has 4 wires total- two are speaker and one is door sensor- no idea on the fourth. Any help on either wire would be appreciated. Thanks

Possibly. It is a 2 door soft top but I guess they likely used the same wiring harness in all models(?). Was hoping to get some answers from someone familiar with the wiring or someone willing to pull the rear light and have a look. Apparently too much of an ask on this site for two screws. You have been very helpful and willing though fordem, on both posts. Thank you

LOL…no one has to go out and pull their tail light, as there is nothing red/white that goes to the rear tail lamps, or any of the lights in the rear. You advise that this is a slightly thicker wire, which might indicate that it’s something that is not factory. Are you getting 12v on this wire?? And what is the color of the 4th wire at the grommet by the passenger front seat.

even if the car is soft top, exactly because the harnesses are standardized, there will be an unused R/W wire for the defogger you dont have. The car is full of unused wires and connectors for features that were not ordered or belong to other markets. just look under your dashboard and youll see plenty

I guess it wold be simple enough to see if there is a place in the fuse panel for the rear defogger fuse…???

all cars will have the place #11 but if its a soft top, it will not have the fuse...

Curiosity notwithstanding, if everything is working as it should, I would assume these are wires for options the car doesn’t have.
