I’ve commented on the low revs on the 1.4 Boosterjet Auto in previous posts. It seems happy to hang on to gears at quite low revs, down to just below 1,500 is very common.
Now that it’s run in, I’m tending to switch to sport or downshift with a paddle if it starts to slow on long uphill gradients.
Yesterday though, I was looking to pass a lorry at 30mph when I hit the downshift paddle just as the auto gearbox decided it was time to change down a couple of gears. The result was a sudden surge to 5,000 rpm and some frantic switching on the up shift paddle.
I’ve now got 1,100 miles under the belt so hope it hasn’t done any lasting damage. I know the redline is around 6,000 but I’ve never hit the line in any car I’ve owned
