Hi all, previously spoke about my car having lack of power and heavy on juice, it was mentioned that the egr valve could be leaking and that I should blank it off, I :unsure:finally took off the valve and blanked it off, i noticed by blowing in it that it was indeed leaking badly..... (not closing)

The car has been standing for 4 days, so no way the engine was warm or anything, anyways after blanking it off, the car would not idle, starts well, revs well, does not idle....

I put that bypass valve at the bottom of the egr valve back to its marks and the vehicle idles now.....

Does this sound normal?

Can you take a picture, I'm having a hard time visualizing the "bypass valve", and the SV620 went to a new owner earlier this year so I can't just go outside and take a peep.

A blanked EGR should not affect idle as the EGR would normally be closed at idle, and the idle speed controls are so to speak on the throttle body side of things - a thermal wax fast idle adjuster that is actually on the throttle body, and the IAC valve that sits on the manifold to the left of the throttle body.

That's not the EGR valve, it's IAC/ISC valve - Idle Air Control or Idle Speed Control valve - if that is what you blanked, you need to unblank it.

The EGR valve (if one is fitted) is down below the intake between the engine & the firewall, kind of difficult to see or reach,

Blanking that off would certainly account for the idle issues.
