Deal or no Deal

Well....2007 GV is in the showrooms. Now, I have received an offer from a local dealer to pickup the last 2006 GV JLX Leather they have in the lot for $3,500 under MSRP and 0% financing.
I understand there is only minor bug fixes in the 2007, however what do you think on taking this vehicle probably seating there for months vs. going to the 2007 and pay full price + probably 3.9 or 4.9% of financing on top.
Numbers wise you cannot even compare, so does the 2007 (2nd year) offset such a discount or I should just take the 2006???

Thank You.......

Pita,

The 2007 GV in Canada is also only "XM ready", it does not have the receiver built in. You still require the XM receiver kit and activation in order to get XM.

Suzuki - 2007 Grand Vitara - Features

The 2007 XL7 on the other hand does have the receiver built in on some models..

The only major change from 06 to 07 is that you can now get the 4-mode transfer case in the lower models.

Cheers,

Tim

And the '07 has a sensible mileage readout.

I'd say if you plan to keep the GV for a long time, the '06 is the better deal. Otherwise in a few years you'll take a similar loss on selling a year older vehicle as the dealer is taking in making the offer to you.

I had the same debate between the 06 and 07 when I picked mine up. Settled on an 07 in the end simply for the color and available trim.

The differences between the two are very minor, mostly minor cosmetic changes in the interior. And of course, the distribution of features in the trim levels. If you're going for the JLX, you can quickly tell it's an 07 if it has the Suzuki badging on the spare tire cover.

Deal......

Ok all, Pisulino made the jump and purchased the 2006 GV JLX-L
Azure Grey Metallic. ...
Probably pick up by end of the week.
Great dealer experience, they offered multiple options, went through the numbers several times and there was no pushing at all.

So now.....I can officially complain in this forum LOL......

Congrats, we're loving it so far after 500kms. A huge improvement over our 02 XL7 - a fine truck in its own right.

Can't wait to see my brother in law and compare with the girly CRV he just bought ;)
Thank You Pita.......I think it was a decent offer for both the dealer and myself and having winter just around the corner, I thought it was the right time (after researching SUV's for 7 months). So yes, it was not an out of the blue decision but a very methodical one. Starting with chaos and many vehicles to choose from. Then get into the forums for many of them and learn the good, bad and ugly for each. Finally, make the short list and finalize what was the right thing for me. Special enphasis was put into understanding prices, options, discounts, and other financial tricks that can make someone spend several more thousands if not prepared.
I think it came down to a good decision, something I will have to live with for many years to come.
I tried my best and gave every vehicle, dealers and car makers even opportunities.

So where abouts in Ontario are you....we may cross some day......

Thanks Again,

Georgetown. How 'bout you?

I'm a real gearhead, and I too obsess with every detail before I buy anything. Good for us! I think we got matching deals! I'd be shocked if anybody received better, though good for them if they did!

If it's your first Suzuki, be at ease. We've had over a dozen vehicles pass through our hands sine '89, and 3 were Suzuki's before the GV. The Suzuki's were 1, 2 and 4 in our reliability scale (Miata 3rd). A VW (2000 Passat) was the worst!

I'm not so sure about the Korean or GM sourced Suzuki's though, otherwise anything 100% Suzuki like the GV has my confidence.

Thank You Pita, I'am from TO and pass by Georgetown once every two or three months while going to Kincardine on Hwy 9.
As for being my first Suki, well I have had a Suki Motorcycle back in 1982 and the famous Suki Forza (3 cylinder) in 1987.
The bike was undestructible, and the Forza for being a subcompact never visited the dealer in the five and change years I had it.
