Hi there, I've found someone selling a mass air flow sensor but it's from a 1994 suzuki vitara 1.6 16v. Will this one go on mine? I've uploaded the photo that was sent to me in my album of the MAF from a 1994 vitara you can clearly see it's not the same but my partner mentioned something about the sidekick and to ask you guys. Thank you.

I did contact the seller and the email i got back was number 13800 57B0 1972 0050 but the number on mine when i took the top off is E331B018-EF. I uploaded the photo of the picture sent to me and put in my album, there is also a picture of mine.

im sorry yes it is. (i guess you never saw one in UK ?, they are all over EU) the page clearly says AIR FLOW METER !
do you need a photo of the EPC page. ? see attach.
she even showed a car with it installed! see all posts.

here is my MAF page.
---------------------------data from my hard to find parts page----------------------\\.6L 92-98. Type 3 MAF's
The MAF prefix is always 13800- all Sidekicks and Vitara's
Also, there is a type 2 MAF for EU /Australia Vitara 13800-57B00 1.6L 16v MPI
Looks like toilet plunger MAF, fits ECU 57Bxx , I have no alt. sources.
type 2 motor has ISC located in Throttle body and not on intake manifold.

58B00:
Which MAF's fit my car , is answered below.
#1 Source: (Suzuki is over $800 new)
#2 Source: ROCKAUTO.COM (A-1 Cardone is ok) see emmission section not Air/fuel, oddly

Last change:
ALL-IGNITION.com for 1.6L MAF : 1.6L MAF cheap but rebuilt it says AND OUT OF STOCK MOST DAYS
Sadly, (All-igniton said their "supplier recalled the 1.6L rebuilt MAF's April 2010")

Suzuki PN for this part is: 13800-58B00 Type3 fits all USA 92-98 1.6L My list of Suzuki cars, that use this part number.

Other Suzuki's any Displacement using type 3 MAF 58B00:
99-03 SQ416 same prefix , 65D00 MAF. Vitara, all below.
99-03 SQ420 same prefix , 65D00 MAF, 400 more CC and same MAF !
99-05 SQ625 , Suzuki moved MAF to TB and dont sell MAF by its self. see below for solution.
01-03 JA627 , Suzuk moved MAF to Air cleaner again. same prefix , 52D00
04-05 JA627 , 52d10 Suffix.
Suzuki MAF's are for sure hard to find.

This dont exist, ok, sure. EPC data

I guess you've never seen one? they're all over the UK. If you look at your photo it clearly says Air Flow Meter not Mass Airflow Meter. Its not a MAF its a Volume Air Flow Meter (VAF) and is not compatible with a 1998 UK spec Vitara.

ok i get it , a word argument.
OK
you win

so what's the fracking point? i helped her find the correct part
why argue , name conventions.

the part number was stated correctly.

id not expect any UK guy to give a hoot for SAE.org but they to , call it other things.

"A Hot Wire Air Flow Meter for Intake Air Flow Measurement"

i'll be danged. the name game. wow.

My point was that she needs to ensure that she gets a MAF (hot-wire type)and not a VAF (mechanical type), its not a word argument they are different parts. I was reiterating your point by stating that the 57B00 won't work and why it won't work.
UK breakers rarely sell by part number but by make, model, year(s) and part description which can make sourcing parts more difficult.

I think you're confused, I stated that the 57B00 isn't a MAF. It isn't a hot wire sensor as you have already stated and its output is proportional to the volume of air flowed and not the mass of air.
