changed clutch but stuck in 4 wheel drive low

well clutch change all went good apart from gear box is stuck in 4 wheel drive low had the shifters out to drop the gear box but the transfer shifter is stuck solid. the gear box was out but coverd for about two months.
its a 2002 grand vitara 5 door with the 2 liter turbo diesel rhz engine.
gear box is a 5spd manual

fixed i found this on the net what i did was take the lever out my car is right hand drive so while sat in drivers seat i stuck a screw driver in to the hole for the lever passinger side was solid then i saw the second one it rotated then i saw the second slot move it foward one click put lever back in now have selections. such a simple thing but was very worrying to think i had messed up majore.
