Have installed a second hand boot and used the original harness and latch and locks and everything and now the latch won’t unlock and nothing works on the whole car, if I unplug the latch then the rest of the car works fine

It's fairly obvious, at least to me, that there's a problem with the latch, it's either defective or been wired incorrectly - why was there a need to replace the original boot, was it damaged in a collision, what's the possibility that the collision damaged the latch?
