Having the same problem with MAF..help!!

Hi,

Have a 2000 GV 4x4

was browsing this forum and found your posts...I too have a code reading of a bad MAF and we have tried to clean it with cleaner and air dry...but no luck.

suzuki dealer said they want $1300 just for the part.

Did you just replace the piece that screws off or did you replace the entire expensive part???

Not mechanically inclined so please speak in lamens terms pleaseee..:)

thanks guys

roger

I got it all fixed!!! I was able to find a wrecking yard that was selling just the throttle body. I picked that up, swapped only the Mass Air Flow Sensor and the car runs like a top again!

I just replaced the MAF itself. I had to buy the entire throttle body unit from a wrecking yard. I pulled the MAF off of it and replaced that only. the MAF is just the piece that screws off. It is crazy how Suzuki only sells the MAF as part of the throttle body.

Maf?

Good on ya'! :)

I don't know why Suzuki or the aftermarket doesn't crank out quality NEW ones, in response to the many needs for them. :(

MAF Replacement

Would like to thank everyone for the great help. My 2000 GV was also throwing EGR and MAF codes. Sapien was spot on with his instructions and pics and saved myself hundreds. Thanks!!
I took the part number off the MAF sensor and Googled it and came across an eBay link. Decided to take a chance and dropped the $100.00 for the part even though the GV was not listed as applicable. Appeared to be the same and installed it. I had to "encourage the connector to cooperate a bit but it eventually "fit". Reset the computer and it ran a bit rough at first but did eventually did smooth out and now runs quite nicely. I still have a bit of a low idle and it does bounce a bit at 500-600 rpm, but not all the time. At least it does not stall out as before. I did take out a little slack in the throttle cable which did help a bit. Runs better than ever and not throwing any codes.
