Has anyone here had experience with this online Auto Parts discounter?

Discount Auto Parts | Car Parts, & Truck Parts Online - Free Shipping on most Auto Parts - AutoPartsGIANT

I finally found (what seems to be) a good source for some parts for my '99 Tracker. Specifically, I need the Stabilizer/Swaybar End links and bushings. I have gone to every parts store in the area here in Marietta, GA, including the Suzuki Parts department, and only Suzuki could actually order the part. But, they wanted almost $60 for each one! That's far and away out of sight for the same part I've been able to locate online.

This particular discounter is able to provide BOTH end links and the repair kit (bushings and nuts) for a total of $63. And, since the order is over $50 there is no shipping charge.

I've not had to resort to ordering parts online before now. The Atlanta Metro area has been very good at having almost anything I've ever needed in the past quarter century-plus that I've lived here.

My main reason now for asking about this site is that the order has been effective for over 48 hours. The order shows "Processed". But, there has yet be provided a Tracking number for the UPS Ground Service.

Those who are accustomed to ordering online, how long does it normally take to get such Tracking number?

TIA,

L. Turner

I'm seeing the same parts at RockAuto for $19.60 a side.

1999 CHEVROLET TRACKER Stabilizer Bar Link

I have heard of Discount Auto Parts, but haven't used them. RockAuto provides same day shipping and status, but I wouldn't worry too much about the ones you've ordered elsewhere already. They'll show up. Maybe even before reflected in the shipping status! I've seen that happen before on my various other orders ESPECIALLY if shipped via the USPS. :(

I would like to second Rock Auto as my premier choice too. :) Prices are very cheap, and its the same parts you'd pay an arm and a leg for elsewhere. Exceptional customer service, and very fast shipping. They are located in Madison WI and I have gotten my parts in about two-three days. Nothing but satusfied and thats what sends me back to them for all my vehicles whenever I have problems no matter how big sometimes or small.

Thanks, Max.

I'll let you know when the parts arrive.

One main reason I opted with this outfit was due to the free shipping on orders over $50. I had seen the parts elsewhere but shipping was going to be around another $15.

For the record, any future parts I cannot find locally will be acquired, if possible, through the highly recommended, RockAuto.

My order through AutoGiant was processed on 5/4 and, as of today, 5/15, I still have not received the parts, received any Tracking number for UPS, nor have I heard anything from them re: any reason for any possible delays.

When I do check the status I'm reading online that it can take up to 5 (FIVE) days to post a tracking number AFTER the item has been placed in the UPS system. Either they're very busy or very careless.

Stay tuned.....

Don't you just hate that LT? :(

I'm not the most patient guy in the world, but no parts / no status after that long a period ticks me off. Try calling them. Maybe they "dropped" the order. Let's see what their live phone / customer svs is like.

Well, Max, it's getting quite disgusting the more I dig into it. This place claims to have over $3 million worth of parts in stock in their HUGE warehouse. After digging around online to find their actual mailing address and then using Google maps and its Street View, here's where they're located and their actual business name:

I really, really should have known better than to order "site unseen" for something like this and without getting some good recommendations first. I do think I'll be able to get my VISA refunded within a reasonable time frame if the parts actually don't show up.

Unfortunately, there are PAGES and PAGES of complaints about this company covering the gamut of complaints: Parts not shipped but said they were; Parts shipped but wrong parts...or only part of the shipment and, in some cases USED and greasy parts; refunds not honored, etc, ect, ad infinitum. Oh, and, the customer service? What customer service?

If I can save our forum members from this outfit, at least I haven't spent a few hundred bucks like many of the complainants I've read about.

If you're interested, just Google, "AutoParts Giant Complaints". But, don't do it before breakfast.

Yikes!

Fortunately you used a CC and you can always dispute the charge (if wrong or not received) even canx / stop payment if not yet processed, all on a phone call to your CC company. ;)

I had to do this w/an e-bay A**-hole a few years ago myself.

As of Saturday a.m., 5/17/09, the status of this order still shows as "New" -- meaning, "Unshipped". If it's not shipped, there's no Tracking Number.

Just how long can a company fail to produce before it becomes fraud?

EDIT: Live and Learn; Learn and hope you Live to tell about it, right?

Anyway, a quick check with the BBB shows this:

AutoParts Giant.com = F

RockAuto LLC = A+

So, there's a huge gap between the two. I'm still holding out a little hope that I'll get my parts..but not holding my breath. If not received in another week, I'll commence the credit card dispute and get the refund. Printing out status reports every single day over the past couple of days.

Order was processed on May 4. Just got a confirmation email that the order has shipped .... May 20. BUT, the Order number of the shipped item does NOT match the Order number of the PROCESSED order.

I wonder what I'm getting???

This should be good!

What ever it is, I'm sure that they'll charge your CC the appropriate amount.

Stand by LT!!! You may be in for a rough ride! :D

UPDATE:

Well, it's getting even more confusing now.

When I check the status of this order online it clearly states that the item has "SHIPPED".

But, to the left of this and under the Invoice number is this note: "(cancel & credited 5/20)"

Also, when I check the Order History, there is nothing to view. It was at this part of the procedure where I could previously at least click on the Tracking option. That no longer exists.

Sooooo....I'm presently at a loss as to whether the item has actually shipped, OR if the item could not be shipped and they have issued a cancellation and credit back to my credit card.

At this time, I'd be perfectly delighted to have the funds returned to my credit card and get the parts ordered elsewhere. I'm presently waiting to buy a whole set of new tires for the car until after I've replaced these parts. But, the tires aren't going to last forever.

BTW, Happy Memorial Day, everyone. Please take a moment to remember those who have fallen in the quest to preserve our Liberties and Freedoms here in the USA. And, not only for ours, but for other countries as well.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Just how many of our fallen are buried in foreign lands? And, just how many foreign soldiers have been buried here?

Suggest calling the CC company to see if any charges have been put through. If you have paid them nothing, tell the CC company to NOT accept any future charges from them and go order elsewhere. ;)

IF the items should show up at some point (you've waited WAY to long as it is for them), simply refuse delivery and the parts will be returned to the company at no cost to you.

And thanks for remembering our fallen Vets...

Just a bit of an update here:

So far, still no parts, no confirmation that the parts have actually been shipped, no tracking number, and no response to my emails.

The order was placed on May 4th.

I did check with the CC company. They advise me to try to get it worked out with the company as any attempt to get the funds returned otherwise can take weeks...if not months to get done. ??? Does that sound right?

You can bet the bank [ummm....does that still work ;) ] that I'll check with the BBB on future online purchases.

LT, ya' gotta' call the CC company, site the non-delivery and tell them to refute / refuse / canx the charges. They'll credit you ASAP. They want to keep you. There are many other CC places that you can turn to and they know it.

That's been my experience.

Refer the CC folks to the BBB info that you found as well.

UPDATE: Attempting to call their Toll-Free number is a waste of time. There's no option to wait to talk to a "Live Rep". All that anyone can do is leave a message on their answering machine.

They do not respond to emails, either. I've exhausted attempts to get this matter settled and will be sending documentation to my VISA in order to get the money restored to my account.

Brief summary: Ordered parts May 4; One email on May 20 stating order SHIPPED; Order did NOT ship; Status updated to say, "Cancelled/Credit Issued: 5/20/09". There has been no credit back to my VISA to this day. Those kind of credits should take only 3 - 5 business days. They claim to be open 7 days a week.

With nearly 800 complaints and a "F" rating by the BBB, it's amazing they can still do business.

I haven't used them. But I'll tell you what...you can't beat RockAuto IMO.

I sampled one item (an EGR valve) from Parts Geeks and then RockAuto

Geek:
OES Genuine EGR Valve $287.75

RockAuto
STANDARD MOTOR PRODUCTS Part # EGV922 $242.79

And RockAuto has one hell of a good rep! ;)
Not sure about the "Geeks".
