When I try to turn the AC on the air conditioner light starts blinking and then shuts off. Its 36 degs out. My old XL7 would turn the AC on no matter what the outside temperature was. Is this normal for the 2007 XL7.

Yes. I'm sure your reasoning is to defog the windows but at that temperature it will warm the outside air to accomplish the same result. The system is not designed to operate at such low temperatures. I'm not sure what the temp threshold is for this vehicle. I know on my F-150 it's 55 degrees. Below 55 and no compressor. On the new XL7's I believe it's around 45. At least thats about what the temp has been according to mine when the compressor shuts down.

If outside temperature is too low, the AC cannot operate. The old model may just leave the AC light on so the driver might think the AC was running even if it was not. Our XL7 was designed to provide the driver real status, but I guess more information just confused the users.

I think you are right

Now that the temp outside is higher, >40 deg, the AC light comes on and stays on when you press AC. There is no info in the manual on this, but its the way I would expect it to work.

Evaporator Low Ambient Protection
The refrigerant temperature at the temperature sensor on the evaporator case controls cycling of the compressor clutch to prevent freezing of the evaporator core. The compressor is disabled when the temperature goes below 3°C (37°F) and vehicle speed is greater than 8 km/h (5 mph). The compressor is enabled when the temperature exceeds 4°C (40°F). The minimum cycling time off is 4 seconds.

Help!!!

I have a 2006 Suzuki XL7. My AC light keeps blinking. my AC doesn't shut off and overall I haven't had any problems with my AC. It will blink when the AC is on and off. what does it mean??

I have only had this car for 9 months and it only has 30,000 miles on it. I called my Suzuki dealer here where I live and they have no idea what it means.
I have tried reading other people's comments but it doesn't help.:(
Please help!

Thank you

your 06 is a completely different animal than the 07+ which is being discussed here,

your light flashing means there is a trouble code stored in your BCM.
your dealer should be able to scan that..

2007 SUZUKI XL7 Heating issue

On my XL7 it appears when it gets cold, the heat will not always work and the toggle between defrost, etc won't work. When it gets warmer it will work. Any thoughts how to correct?
