Anyone done any good radio and headlight upgrades?

There's so much wind noise in my ragtops that I never considered dumping much money into a fancy radio, but I have upgraded a few just for the Bluetooth feature. Installation kits are worth the money. Best radio improvement came from replacing the speakers.

Headlights? $20 Sylvania white-light bulbs. That's as fancy as I get.

My '89 Tracker stereo died, so I found a factory Suzuki/Pioneer version to replace it. I also wanted to make it audible above wind noise so I added a 4x50W classD amp, which was small enough to fit behind dash. Then bought 4 new speakers stock size, and finally added a compact pioneer sub under driver seat. I still use tape deck, tried a bluetooth phone system but nobody could hear me over the road noise. Otherwise everything works and sounds great, even with top down.

I'd recommend keeping 100% of the stock wiring, so use an aftermarket harness and run new power/acc lines for any heavy power drains. In mine I ran them back to a fused distribution block connected to a new battery lug.

I've not even looked for updated headlights for a tracker, as I prefer the stock. I have previously wired up some Hellas on an old truck, it's easy if you use proper size wiring and relays. These days wireless switches are also an option.

I have a removable hard top but, it still isn't like riding in a nice car as there are air leaks around the seals. The bluetooth interest me with all these hands free laws and, they will give me a ticket for being on the phone;). Also, being that I'm by no means young anymore, my eyes would like a little more light driving home in the dark out here where we live in the country. I like these newer bright white lights that the newer cars have and was hoping that there is a retrofit set up available. I hate those lights in my face but, sitting on the other side of them must be nice

If your question was to me re wind noise, it will be a couple of days before I can get outside to unlatch the roof and take a picture. I just had a total knee replacement, and the temp outside is like 12 degrees. Hate to fall and freeze
to death and not be able to take pictures....lol

Did you have any problems with the high /low beam. I just tried a different set of Led bulbs & the high/low was the wrong way round. Swapped the bulb wires around & still no good. Seems the switched ground wiring doesn't play well with my led bulbs.

switched ground won't play nice, you may need to make a set of relay interfaces.

Just remember, LED lamps are not designed for incandescent based reflectors and your light pattern will not be as good as the lamp designed for the fitting.

the oncoming "dazzle" factor is a problem with LED retrofits in incandescent housings as the focal points are different. Pattern will likely be rubbish too and worse than your regular yellow candles.
