Hi all.

I have a 2024 Grand Vitara which I am changing the head unit to an Android head unit.

I have figured out most of the wiring, I am just struggling with Key 1 and Key 2, which is for the steering wheel controls. Key 1 is + and Key 2 is - as far as I have found.

I am left with the bottom row - Yellow/Grey/purple/pink/white/green and the purple on the right.
On the top row I am left with the purple on the top left.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Posting this for anyone else that gets stuck in the future:

The top row in the middle are all the speaker wires.

Thick Black on right is ground, light green below is constant 12v+, red on bottom left is illumination when you put the lights on and off, and the bottom left blue(next to red) is ACC for when you put the ignition on.

Now you have 3 threads going for the same issue. Instead of making new threads, just bump your original thread to ‘revive’ it.
You need to find someone who has the electrical supplement for the 2024 Grand Vitara (maybe online) to indicate what the wire colors are for the Vitara harness. If you search for this on the internet, you might find a diagram. I don’t know how helpful this site is, but here’s one: https://wireblueprint.com/suzuki-grand-vitara-radio-wiring-diagram

I'm actually not in favor of bumping threads, but I suppose it is preferable to creating multiple threads.

Consider the possibility that the reason no one has responded is because no one can answer your question - take this particular discussion - how many people are likely to have yanked the head unit on a brand new vehicle? I'm willing to admit it's something I've done, I had the head unit out of our 2021 Jimny before it was three months old, so I could wire an under seat sub-woofer in. I was planning on tossing in a set of older Kenwood separates, that I had on the shelf but I never got around to that.

Thats very true Fordem. Not many people would take apart any car, never mind a brand new one 🙈

Even on the Jimny, there is not a lot of info on those head units.

I actually got the above mentioned info from a Jimny club post.

Well I've gotten more replies here than on my first post, so maybe that will garner some attention and the right person may see it :)

So i have figured it out.

Pin 1 seems to be ground to the steering wheel controls.
Pin 2 is for the volume control and skip
Pin 3 is for the answer call and voice assistant buttons below the steering wheel.

I have connected the wires Key 1 and Key 2 to to every combination of those wires but I am not getting any feedback to the radio.

I found a youtube video of a guy saying he needed to ground Key 2 while it was connected for it to work.
I tried this, when I ground either of the 2 wires I get a signal to the radio, but without pressing any buttons, so it is just getting a general ground resistance.
I also tried key 1 and 2 to pin 2 and pin 3 respectively, and then manually ground pin 1 but I get the same as above sadly.

Generally speaking, the steering wheel controls are a resistive matrix, once the wires are connected, the head unit will have to be programmed to recognize which button (and it's corresponding resistance) does what. Not all head units can be programmed, if yours cannot then you are going to need an interface between the steering wheel controls and the head unit.
