First off, does anyone have the repair manuals for these? Service manual doesn't cover... 2.5L V6 auto 4wd

Second, is it difficult to replace the front & rear input shaft/gear (pinion) bearings? Mine's (one of them) is making a grinding noise, and I suspect one of these...won't know until I take it apart. I've replaced axle bearings and the like, rebuilt engines, but haven't ever done a rear diff...

Sooooo, looking at some more materials, it's looking like I can take a junkyard carrier and replace my existing unit doing just bolt work, right? If I don't touch the cap bolts it's just a nut and bolt job...??

And thanks, Max (and other unnamed folks) for all your FAQ info/links!

Just an FYI, none of the rentable axle puller were able to be bolted up, but Harbor Freight's 2 lb puller set (56894) worked for pulling the axle half-shafts. It's possible to heat the ABS ring and (wheel) bearing retainer collar off, but mush care is needed to not overheat the outer grease seal when taking the collar off. Those two parts aren't easily available, but you can still find them if you're replacing a wheel bearing. Just prep in advance or your car will be up on jack stands for awhile!
