Good Day Group, 2000 Tracker, Auto Trans, 4 door, 4WD, 76k miles. Runs great, but:
very intermittent (like once a month) no crank issue, after driving say 1 hour, leave the car off for 10-15mins, come back & car will not start- keys turns to start, but the starter won’t engage, all dash lights, radio fans okay. brand new battery, and just replace the starter. Since this is a very intermittent issue, all seemed fine for about a month, then out of the blue same issue. Seems to only happen when car is driven on a hot day, left to sit for 10-15mins. The electrical schematic is pretty simple, once turned - key power via the ignition switch to a transmission safety switch, then directly to the starter solenoid. Since battery replaced & new starter, only the safety switch & ignition switch remain.
Last time this happened, I left the key in the Start position a few seconds longer than normal, and it started. Prior to this, I would turn the key back to the On position after the Starter didn’t engage in the STARt position, like you would normally do after the car starts.
I have read every post here regarding this similar issue, trying to get as much information as possible.
