I have a 2019 SZ5 Swift with this great engine. Does anyone have the exact reason why it was dropped. The dealers I speak to are all disappointed it happened but not clear about the reasons.
Are there any potential problems for higher mileage cars? It seems that when other car makers like VW and Ford are fully committed to 3 cylinder 1.0 litre engines, Suzuki had a cracker and let it go .
As I'm new to the forum my apologies if this has already been discussed.

I believe but cannot confirm its due to EU emissions requirements. Definitely a desirable wee power plant thats been replaced by a 1.2 dual jet
Hang onto it, I bet the prices for second hand will go up

I haven't heard anything other than the fact you can attract constabulary attention if you exercise the right foot. Seemtyo be a good wee motor

I have read, on other forii, that manufacturers [pan Euro] are 'balancing the books' on [sic] Total Portfolio Emissions.... Killing off viable, consumer friendly models/engines combos >> and, so, continuing to produce higher emission/high power/higher margin 'barges' without breaking 'whole fleet' emissions quotas.

Just wot I heard, like.... 😟

I have a 1.0 boosterjet engine in my Baleno which has been thoroughly reliable and amazingly frugal. I had 4 VAG cars previous to the Baleno of 1.2 and 1.0 ltr capacities each with a turbo. All were excellent engines but the boosterjet 1.0 is at least the equal of any of them. My wife has an S Cross with the 1.4 boosterjet and this is totally reliable but achieves at least 10 MPG less than the 1.0 in any given set of circumstances.
