Hi,

I have the Vitara S (2018) and have updated my infotainment software before which was fine but I have a problem which is annoying. I have Google Pixel 4a phone, I connect USB cable to phone and car and Google Maps works fine and Android auto is fine. I switch off car and when starting car, it says "no smartphone linked" and "please connect your smartphone", even though my phone says connected to android auto and for calls it is picking up my phone. I have to date found no solution to this problem except to plug into another phone. I have reset the phone, turned off bluetooth, restarted but it won't work. However the next day in the morning, same issue - works fine when going to work but return journey, it wont connect to android auto or google maps, just says no smartphone linked, please connect your smartphone. Any ideas please how to resolve this issue? Thanks. Ajay.

This confused the hell out of me the first few times I encountered it with Apple CarPlay. The answer turns out to be pretty simple as it happens - assuming you are connecting with a proper quality USB cable.

When you use the phone mirroring via USB cable, the infotainment system disconnects the Bluetooth connection to your phone (which will be indicated in the upper right quadrant of the infotainment Home Screen) as soon as you plug in BUT it will not connect the iPhone (in my case) which will be indicated in the lower right quadrant UNTIL the phone is unlocked.

So the simple solution is to unlock the phone before you plug in to avoid the conflicting messages. If you don’t, it makes no difference (on iPhone anyway) as you can just unlock the phone after you plug in but you’ll obviously see the no phone connected message.

same issue with a OnePlus 7 Pro + Iphone 12 on a Vitara 2022 model year. On my car it works for 1 week, then out of a sudden it won't work. and like you, I tried almost everything and no result.
using original cables that came in the box for each phone.

what I found to work: go into settings reset to factory settings. and after that it works perfectly for a while. I had the cars for 21 days,3000 km so this happened twice so far.

Go to Suzuki Web site. There is a list of acceptable mobile phones that operate with the FACTORY fitted units. Could be that your infotain unit not compatible. I have the Pioneer that was briefly fitted due to lack of Bosch units. Suzuki GB have gone back to Bosch but they can have firmware problems. Despite software update to Pioneer rear camera stuck on when driving forward, shutting down etc. Dealer has reinstalled software again to see if that sorts it. Still watching it.

2024 Vitara SZ5: I have had problems - Android Auto, but finally (I hope) solved. There are a number of potential problems that cause disconnection or failure to connect. I purchased a short (less than 30 cm) USB 3 compatable cable. I unpaired bluetooth (do not re pair) - the cable will give you full phone functionality. Logic... It's all about Data speed. My phone is perhaps too slow to communicate via both bluetooth and cable at the same time. A short high quality cable will maximise data through put.
