I have a vitra 92 1.6 8v mono injection.
Whit a ecu(computer) 33920-56b70

The car would not start from one day to the next.
Symptoms:
a clicking sound from the fuel pomp relay.
a clicking sound from the stationary regulator (the device on the injector housing)

There is a spark the car will run on starting spray.
There is no fuel coming from the pump.(except when i short the fuel pomp relay)

I took the computer to a specialist they try ed the computer in a different car.
And that car did run but made the same clicking sounds. They said that that was because of the old and under powered battery in that car.

The only thing they could tel me was that it probably was a to low voltage on the ecm or other components. or maybe a blow fuse.
Or a bad ground connection.

i checked the fuses by eye all in the fuse box and 2 in the engine compartment, 2 near the fuse box inside the car. They all seem ok .

I checked the ground by putting a starter cable from the battery - to the ecu chassis and i also put a starter kabel from the battery - to the motor, that did not help

i also measured the input voltages of the ecu:
b1 12v
b5 3,3
b6 9,9
b7 12
b9 12
b13 12
b14 12
b16 12

a23 5,3

i also exchanged the relay whit a other relay ( that did not help)
I also look inside the ecu for swollen caps but they looked fine.
The ecu look nice and clean from the inside.

I have found some problems that look the same :

And no i have not tryed to use a noid lamp (caus i dont know where and how to get it)

If anybody has some suggestions please tell me.
I am at a loss.

thanks

I have fond the solution :D
And it only cost me 1,5 euro's

When i looked up this site.
link : ECU

this link rely helped.
I went to the local electronics store and bought 3 caps for 1,50 en replaced the leaky once in the ecu.
Then i try ed the ecu again and still it did not work. So i looked on this internet again and found this link :
Bad computer? SO your EFI is acting up...

He describes that the caps leak corrosive stuff that eats through print lanes.
So i checked the surrounding print lanes and yes there was one that measured 40 ohms (it should only measure 1ohm or less) so 40 was bad.

i created all new lane by connecting a wire from the cap to the nears component.
then i measured again and it was 1,5 ohms so it was oke.

put the ecu back in to the car.
and no more clickingen it started with the first turn of the key :)

so 1,50 and about a 30 minutes of measuring and repairing fixed my car.

So i want to realy thank jtgh for replying.

you are a very good tech, dogmatic , "gets er, done!"

the caps on all these cars 90 to 94 , ALL LEAK, ( or will soon)
it is a known problem ( poor quality caps used)

YOu win the Skin Flint award for 1.5 Euros !!!

Others:
there must be NO contamintion on the board or leaks
there must be no damaged PCB traces. they most all be 0 Ohms perfect
conductivity.
There must be no cracked traces or cracked PAD EYE to Components.
these are called plated thru Holes. "VIA'S" to a tech.

Some times the board can be fixed by RE-soldlering all the holes.
all the large ones, then retest. ( IC's hold up well skip them)

the large ones are under a lot of vibrational stress and can fail.

the # ECu link i mine. It is evolving as you guys find new ideas.
Wish I had transistor #, need them. I have source if we can get numbers and would document it. EG: lick: C123 ( = 2SC123)

for others : this was a TBI Sidekick 1.6L and would have failed ,
my radio-shack , NOID lamp test. see link.

EG: no injector signal.

--------------sidel line ----------------------------------------
I am not sure what NOID means?, "No Output Injector Driver" lamp.
WWW googles fail to find meaning, I submited to wiki a demand for
stating what it means and showed them all the NOID kits for sale to prove my point. We will see.
