I find it somewhat questionable that a dealer would be ‘puzzled’ by this…surely he would know how to turn the steering wheel from left to right, to cause the knocking sound to happen, and be able to locate it? Or get the car up on a lift and manhandle the suspension, etc., to see where the banging noise is coming from? Frankly, if you brought it in to the NCT center, and they put it on the machine that bumps the car around, they’d find the issue in a second. In any event, for the steering at least, have someone turn the steering wheel while you stand in front of the car and see if you can locate what is knocking.
