well i think im chasing an electrical mess.. heres whats going on. about 6 months ago i went off roading at flat river MO. for the 5th time. lots of sand, lots of mud and deep water... yeah i know right.. well i never drove though anything real crazy. i like to keep the tracker nice. so anyway the last trip i had an alternator failure.. sucked bad. ended up driving as far as she would go till the battery complely died, pushed it to a walmart, swaped the battery out for their best one (warranty i just paid up charge for the 75max) worked perfectly, then i drove to advance auto and replaced the alt in the parking lot, then still had over an hr drive home.. was a mess.. anyway now since then i get a slow start after short trips. for example, start the car for 5 mins, shut off then 1 min later try to start again. it cranks slow, to slow to fire it up. let it sit 20 mins and it cranks super fast and normal, fires right up. i can replicate it every time., so ok starter went out too? even tho its only 5 months old.. so i swap it out a few weeks ago.. no change. still crappy. what i have found out tho. while its acting up cranking slow, if i let out the clutch really fast in gear while cranking (has a working safety clutch switch thingy) when i do that the clutch grabs while the engine is still turning for a split second before the safety switch cuts the starter, then press the clutch back down, it cranks super fast now. i can replicate that every time too.. but when i do that. the engine will not start. even tho the starter is cranking at full speed. if i hold the throttle to the floor it will eventually start with a sputter... maybe the slow cranking is flooding it? but thats not the concern atm. so then another thing to add, may or may not be related. the wipers have NO torque even if there is a light snow dusting on the glass they dont have the power to push through.. in a normal rain they work ok. but a heavy spit wad will slow them to a drag. i first noticed this driving off road where i would have muddy water splashing on the windshield.. is the motor shot? or not getting enough electricity like i suspect whats happening with the starter? any help much thanked!!

Your battery should read at least 12.5 volts and not less than 12 volts when testing with car off. Once the car is on, the battery should read 13-14 volts if the alternator is charging. Conversely you can drain the battery a bit by putting your headlights on for a minute or two with the car off. Then start the car, and the battery voltage should read at least 14v.

tested battery its at 12.8volts off, running at 650rpm idle (need to adjust) it reads at 14.1 volts, ive found that iff the headlights are on, or blower, or wipers.. or anything of draw it will aggravate the issue even more., crank even slower. then it sounds like a completely dead battery., but all i have to do is clutch down then up and it cranks normal... could it be the clutch start safety switch thingy? i know this is an odd issue.. i fix 99.9% of the issues before bringing it here. it has to be really phked up to come here :)
