All,

Is there a water compartment at the rear of the GV to top up water for rear window or does it work from the front?

Regards,

BP.

I'm pretty sure it gets it from the front. So it's possible that if you don't use it much, it might take a while to get the fluid through - while in the meantime the blade is scraping the dirty window.

Agree with Brian, nice handy hint - thanks.

Huh, good to know, thanks. I almost never use the rear window wiper. Got used to driving a larger truck where you could only use the side mirrors.

Nope.

I had my front off the other day, and the sprinkler in the rear, and on the front windscreen are both fed from the same tank in the front. They do have separate pumps, but these are both fitted directly onto the tank itself. One is marked with a green stripe, the other are just black. The pumps are fitted under the left hand side headlight.

A quick lookup in the manual confirms it.. see attached.

When I activate the washer only by rotating the end on the control knob down, the washer runs for as long as the knob is turned without the wiper starting at all. I ran mine for 20 sec without the wiper running. Rotating the control up starts the wiper and then the washer if rotated far enough up.

For our RHD SGV (at least in mine  ), we activate the front washer by pulling the wiper stick...towards the steering. To activate the rear washer, we turn the knob at the top of the wiper stick clockwise and holding it till the water came out from the nozzle.

I haven't been in a LHD SGV, but I would expect the JAPS would mirror the switches for the beams/indicator as well as the wipers, thus I guess you will need to turn the knob at the top of the wiper stick counter clockwise. :)

UNLESS THERE ARE VARIATIONS in production years as well as regions.

Ciao!

I made a short video:

I tried also to rotate it to most upper position (with sprinkler icon ) but wiper engaged immediately, so I didn't made a video of it.

In user manual on one picture describing dashboard there is reference to a page 2-82 (detailed washer knob description), but chapter 2 in my manual end with 2-75 !!! Funny, isn't it ?

Have a look at this one, this is how mine works.

So it look like there is difference in model year or region. I will show your video to my dealer. Your version makes more sense to me, but on every other car that I drove ( sold in EU ) washer/sprinkler works like on mine. Maybe there is some stupid regulation, that EU cars must have this combination. On other cars I am OK with it, because water run out immediately, but here on GV it takes ages. Reprogramming will be impossible (for my dealer ) I think so only way is to install rear valve after the pump.

I know my video doesn't show it, but, the water starts immediately after I turn the knob.

Its a bit strange that yours is different, since the marking on the knob is the same.

I wonder if you could change a cable somewhere for this to work same way like mine.

Hi All,

I tried to rotate the lever for a fw mins to see if the water would would make it's way to the rear window but it never happened, i noticed a stream of water coming from the passenger side front wing so wondering could something be loose which is stopping the water flowing to the rear window?

Regards,

BP.

its sooooo easy to take off.. all you need is just a medium flathead screw driver and a philips no 2.

First time I took it off, it took me 10 min, and I NEVER tried it before. Only tried some 15 year old car before, and it was totally different back then.

This one is really really easy, no trouble at all. Comes off easy, and pops back on again easy. Headlights stay on the vehicle.
