BruceLi sounds like a trick question. You ask about bigger diameter wheels and tyres. Remember that when you up size wheels and tyres you are remaining with a wheel tyre package that has the same rolling curcumference as the standard wheels and tyres. Dont be thinking that by fitting bigger wheels and tyres you will be gaining any perfomance benifits. Maybe if you had 250bhp you would need a bigger tyre for a better contact patch the help transfer the power. Bigger wheels on a super carry van are only for looks and nothing else. Hope this answers you question.
I'm actually wanting to hear that our rides will be faster if we have a
bogger over-all diameter tires. It's not a trick question actually, but
let me change the question to "a longer circumferece" than a bigger
over-all diameter, ok? But aren't they related?? (Circumf. = pi x D)

Anyway, thanks for the reply.

Apologies

I think you are missing the key point! When you increase the tyre size you increase the width, decrease the aspect ratio and increase the rim size. You are aiming to keep the same circumferece. If you change size and its not as close to the standard as possible your speedo will read the wrong speed.
Good day!

That's exactly what I meant to ask in the 1st place, to increase
the "over-all diameter" (w/c will result to inaccurate odometer &
speedo reading), and I didn't mean increasing the rim or tire dia.
only and maintaining its over-all dia. or circumference.

Whew, sorry for the mess man, didn't mean to bother all you guys in
any way. Appreciate it much for sharing your knowledge on this matter.
Glad to have you guys teaching newbies like me in this forum.

best regards!!!

Now, this question goes to all zuki owners who have tried changing
their wheels to a bigger one, regardless of the error in speedo & odom.
it causes, what is your experience in its speed & fuel efficiency?
(well you can't rely on the speedo anymore but how's the "feel" of its
acceleration / speed) any difference than smaller wheels?

I have a plan to really change my original wheels to a larger one,
but i need your input guys.

Thanks.

sir BRUCE LI, let me share my "indirect experience" with this kind of setup

We have also a Diahatsu hi-jet (pero hindi dito sa CEBU), it was originally a pickup but it was converted on an FB van (passenger type po)... My brother owns a Nissan Sentra LEC w/ a 15inch wheels, tire is 195/60 R15... so its one big @ss wheel for a kei truck. the wheels fit, and me and my brother tried to test the ride... the speed is slighly increased but only when the truck has picked up the speed, from zero to something, its a bit drag... on turning the steering wheel, it is really heavy when not moving, but when its running its fine. That's when the truck only has me and my brother.
So we tried it w/ my parents, my sister, and our dog (whole family, heheh) and there, we realized that its hard to get it moving... heheh
needless to say, we re fit the orig 13inch wheels... heheh (we got scolded from that, dad said that it will add strain to the steering section and the engine itself)

btw the engine/trans of that diahatsu is a 660cc 6 valves, carburated... 5 speed tranny

whats the aspect ratio? i agree anyway with mono (even if i'm a bit confused with some tire terms) because if you get tires not as close to the original then you would have a hard time reading the speedo or change the speedo cable overall just to get a good reading.

hi mono, i've just checked my old surviving suzuki sk410/ super carry manual, and it reads that the original carry size is 155R12C-6PR.

now the problem is i dont know how could i convert it in the tire size calculator. what i did was i inputed this: 155/60/R12, and is this correct? hopefully it is, because the best fit tire (with 15in rims) is: 215/25/R15, and it says: it's 0.5% too fast as compared to the original tire.

if this would be correct i would be gladly be shopping here for new rims. :D thanks in advance bro.

The aspect ratio is the ratio of the tyres width. So if you have a 155 80 12 tyre the width is 155mm the side wall is 80% of the width. The original size is 155 80 12 the C 6pr stands for commercial 6 ply. The correct size to go to for if you are wanting to change to 14 inch rims is 165 60 14. if you want 15 inch you would have to use a 195 45 15 tyre. If you want 15 inch rims or 14 inch with a different tyre size ie 185 55 14 i am pretty sure you will have to modify your bady work. Hope this helps. If you need anymore help feel free to ask.

i have 14 inch rims with 185/55/14 tyres. 15 inch rims will fit if you can find some with the correct offset and PCD and I can tell you it will be hard and expensive. Took me over 6 weeks to find my wheels and i am in the motor trade. My tyres stick out from the arches by 1 inch so the wheel arches are having to be modified. You can put any size wheels on that you want depending on how much work/time/money you want to spend.

Hello poison, I have been through this a few times on here but i notice you are a newbie so to save you searching through all the posts here is the info you will need. For a 6x14 rim you need a PCD 4x114, centre bore 60.1mm and the offset needs to be 15-18mm. Use 185/55/14 tyres. If you want 15 rims it depends on the width of rim you want as to what the offset would be but you can work that out from the back space measurement. Hope this helps you.

I had my suzuki every <aka scrum van> wheels replaced with 175/65/14 pcd100 (actually my rims have universal holes - can fit hubs for pcd114 & pcd100) and I had no problem in max turn. It's a freebie from a friend dealer of suzuki surlpus so I have to use it since my wheels are already worn-out. There were no modifications made when I used this new wheel set-up. Well, I feel it's a little bit heavier during initial run as compared with using my previous 12" set-up but noticed fuel economy on long distance highway trips.

I'll suggest not changing your wheel size to a bigger one if your cab is not equipt with power-steering features... it may give you more challenge during parking on crowded sites...

I had just came across this site ->Wheel Fitment Guide may help us during wheel sizing up...

#41 ·
Ronfer its not just the PCD thats the problem with getting the correct fittment of wheels its the offset as well. the fittment guide you posted does not have super carry/scrum in its listings. In all my searching i could not find a fittment guide that did list the carry van. All the dealers i spoke to gave me different offsets as what they said was correct. I ended up measuring and calculating the offset myself. I can only go off my experience of getting wheels here in the UK and i can tell you it was not easy to find wheels to fit correctly unless you want to over £600 (UK pounds) for four wheels without tyres.

i too searched and searched for a fitment guide until i finally gave up and got the answers here i think monometalico knows his stuff as hes been there and done the measurements and found and fitted his alloys i used this site as a guide but as u can see the rascal scurry and super carry arent mentioned anywhere and the only other suzuki with a correct pcd is the swift http://www.bikerlifestyle.co.uk/tech/pcd/pcd.htm#h

Poison, If you used Rover wheels you would have to use a spacer aprox 20mm thick with longer wheel studs. If you look at this
PCD chart@bikerlifestyle.co.uk
you will see there are plenty of wheels out there with the correct PCD some with correct centre bore but none with the correct offset. Like i say you can use spacers but i am not a big fan of these. As my carry van has gone from 40ish BHP to aprox 75/80 BHP you might understand why i bought wheels that are 100% correct. If you want to go with 15 inch rims let me know what width you would want and i will give you an idea of the offset you will need. Or if you have any questions you think i can help you with feel free to ask. I am always happy to try and help fellow carry van drivers.

ps where are you from Poison?

#46 ·
There are any number of tyres sizes you could use but what rims are you using? The point i am trying to make to people is that the problem with the super carry is getting rims with the correct offset/pcd/centre bore/back space. It maybe different in other countries but here in England its pretty hard to find rims that dont need spacers and spigot rings. Another thing I have to think about is not having wheels sticking out to far as the law in the UK says that wheels have to be covered, plus if you have rims any wider than 6 inch i would say you will not be able to use the side sliding doors!

I reckon these would do nicely they are multifit but im unsure what the pcd sizes are they look right but u cant really tell from a photo the offset is 14cm id pay him £80 if he was local but deliverys got to cost a bit with somthin that heavy. and ive just skinted myself buying a genuine suzuki super carry rear seat for my van they are hard to get hold of ive found managed to get one local the guy was selling his van he used for his computer shop and sold the seat seperate which was removed years ago like many work vans but luckly he kept it.
