Overdrive light flashing

Started last night, on my 96 Geo Tracker while on the highway the overdrive light started flashing. I would stop and turn the car off but a few miles down the road it would be back. When I got home I could smell smoke/burning. Anything out there?

I think you have some answers on this post:
http://www.suzuki-forums.com/suzuki...-sidekick-escudo-vitara-geo-tracker/14573-92-sidekick-o-d-light-flashing-2.html
where you asked the same question.
Point is that you need to get the codes - the 'flashing' is trying to tell you something. I think you need to have a scan tool to pull the codes on your car. I think that Autozone does this for free. So go get the codes and then post them, so you can get help here. In the meantime, read this:
Slush pump diagnosis
You are the 4 speed transmission. You can actually disconnect the TCM computer (for the transmission) and shift the car manually, if needed.

Ya, I posted that AFTER I posted here. The codes....the reason I haven't done that yet is to see if someone else had this problem and had a simple solution to it first before I did all that. So if you can tell me how to fix it then thanks, if not then no need in telling me how to use a forum. Thanks.

I find your closing comment to be rude and obnoxious, if you don't take the time to do the initial diagnostics, don't come here expecting the forum to use a looking glass, resulting in an instant cure...

Now go do as advised or pay for someone else to fix your ails..... P:mad:

Well, how does someone give you a solution if you don't know what the codes are? That is the purpose of codes, right? As there are many codes, there are many things that this could be. Perhaps you were looking for a forum of magicians instead.

on my page .
click CEL (top most left ICON) this link is to all CODED lamp warnings (not oil and charge)

then click my OD is blinking.

your 4 speed tranny computer brain is very unhappy.
it says so with a flashing OD lamp.
this is a crude request to the owner to pull the diagnotic codes now.
just a couple there are.

you can use an OBD2 scan tool or reader to get them or use the old legacy DLC connector under the dash to blink out the codes.

96 is friendly that way , you can get the codes out 2 ways.

the codes are called DTC, diagnostic Trouble CODES. OR CODES FOR SHORT.

smoke ,dont know.

but where there is smoke there is fire. says smokey.

i like the other posts for OD

the owner uses every trick in the book to stop the flashing, all the while thinking the
flashing. ( thinking the flashes hurt the car someway, and not just a warning , that i need to communicate )

this is so funny to me. ( sick)

including dragging feet , fiddling shifter ,and dragging brakes etc.

it is like stuffing rags in a babies crying mouth , instead of changing the poor lads diapers. Listen to your baby, do the vulcan mind meld and then you know.
