My gages are going crazy!

It started with the gas gage, a couple of years ago. First it was just inaccurate, then it just started pointing in random locations like the "9:00" position. Reads full when empty, empty when full, correct, and impossible.

Well, the DIC range indication always works, so I left that alone.

Next the temperature gage goes. I start the car after shoveling off the snow, and the gage reads redline hot. Now it points anywhere it wants to.

Finally, the speedo has taken off. I have seen it reading 120+ when I am sitting at a stoplight, or zero when I'm cruising at 65.

The only gage that still works is (of course) the one I NEVER need, the tach!

What could cause this?

My fuel gauge reads erratic so I just use the miles to empty for filling up. My friend has a Chevy SUV and he has the same problem with his gauges. It looks like our trucks use the same crappy stepper motors. If you can solder you can replace them in your cluster. The motors can be purchased from Amazon.
