Hi

I have a 2014 Alto which is new to me and it has an engine warning light on

The OBD scanner says it’s the IAT sensor
I have bought the sensor but for the life of me I can’t find where it’s located on the engine

I thought it would be on the air filter box but can’t see it

Any ideas

Thanks

Depending on market and model, air box, intake pipe by throttle body or in the manifold itself. 90% of the iat issues are wiring related, very rare for the sensor itself to fail unless its inbuilt in the MAF then they can be problematic as those ones are an open wire thermistor style and can fail.

Please tell me you have proved its the sensor itself and haven't assumed based on a code as they are only an indication of where to start the diagnostic process

Got a P0113 or a P0112
P0113 is a high voltage usually a shorted sensor or an open circuit
P0112 is usually short in the wiring

Hi
OBD reads PO113

Car is 2014 base model

I have not proved it’s the sensor just assumed …yeah I know ..never assume

What’s the best plan to to diagnose the problem

As far as location of the sensor it’s not on the intake or the main air box or the second air box on the right and I can’t see or feel it on the intake manifold

At least you have not wasted the money on a sensor, plug will probably have to be found from a wrecker.

Ill admit I was wrong, it was a faulty sensor in your case...and faulty wiring ...or can a missing sensor be considered faulty? It may still be ok, sitting on the ground somewhere.

Haha yes sensor is probably fine ..might be a problem finding it though…

I had already bought a Bosch sensor .. was only £10 , I have put it in the rubber inlet ..just to stop air leaking inThrough the hole.

I think I will find a connector on eBay , just a case of finding the right one

must admit, drive the car after outing the sensor in (without being connected up) and the car definitely seems smoother on acceleration.. might just be my imagination though

Anyway thanks to all that helped

It probably will feel different as the ecm will be taking -40 as the ambient and richening the mixture appropriately, economy will suffer
