After having to disconnect the battery, the Infotainment system now prompts for a 4 digit code to unlock it.

This as far as we know hasn't been set before.

Any ideas on what to do with this please?

Thanks for the reply. Without typing in the security pin correctly the whole system appears disabled.

I wondered if there's a factory default? I have heavily searched on google and not come up with anything that will assist.

I don't want to use up my apparent '5' attempts to get the code right as it seems the unit will cost a lot of money to get unlocked and be usable again if I lock it out!

they aren't that dumb, factory do not put security codes on the radio that people can read. Refer to owners manual or contact a dealer.

I've been told by my dealer, not the original dealer where the car was first registered, that the infotainment system code is normally the last four digits of the chassis number.
Hope that assists you Stoobloo.
Hey. Do you know where I can find the chassis number? I looked in the manual, I looked in the documents in the case the Manuel comes in and I've looked online, but still can't find it.

Fair enough. If that's how you feel that's fine with me. That's not been my experience, I had to prove who I was to my dealer before they gave out the information and personally I don't want it advertised openly what the security code is, we may as well put it on the front of each unit. No point it being a security code if it so easily available.

codes are 99% of the time set to last 4 digits of the VIN or 0000
most can be changed by the owner, which can be problematic when car is on-sold.

EXCEPT toyota, they use a random code that is only dealer accessible, but here they legally must give you the code if you can prove ownership of the vehicle.

Hi, I have a similar issue with a 2017 Vitara. Before realising what the 4 digit code was, I tried some that I thought my grand parents may have set it to. So it now says system locked, contact dealer. Is there a way around this at all please? Don’t have the option to now enter a code. If not, I’ve been told it’s ~£50 to have the unit removed and sent to Suzuki for a reset. Thanks

Its a Suzuki reset.....once you lock it out after trying too many wrong codes thats it,

You have already quoted the answer to your question. It’s a dealer visit. The dealer needs to reset the unit. It’s a dead unit now you’ve locked yourself out until such time as you visit a dealer, tell them you’ve been a very naughty boy, and hand over the dosh.

Failing that, the master code is 1234.

Just kidding - you need to visit the dealer.

Hello My Partner and I purchased a used 65 plate Suzuki Vitara 3 years ago, the vehicle has been a pleasure to own and drive, just recently I purchased a new Sat Nav update online, updating was no problem, just need to do 63+ miles and then the SD card will register the new vehicle licensing, it was just when I was selecting through the security pages that I realised, I do not have the security pin for the system! So I start the usual hunting through the owners manual sifting through all the paperwork when I come across a Gold sticker stating a GB KEYCODE, 4 digit code. ok, ill try that, nope try the vehicle chassis number (last 4 digits), nope. Try 0000, nope. 1234, nope.
So what I am asking is what else can I try? or do I go back to my Suzuki dealership where we purchased the car 3 years ago?
Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Back to the dealer before you enter another code and lock yourself out of the system

I had this issue when I purchased my Vitara and the infotainment system was locked out and it requested a security code. This was before the vehicle was sold to me. I brought it from a Mercedez dealer so they tried contacting a local Suzuki dealer first and the cost was too high so they didn't proceed with Suzuki. They also tried the last four digits of the VIN, it didn't work. The previous owner changed the PIN but couldn't remember what it was changed to. Mercedez then removed the infotainment system and sent it to a independent provider who specialises in unlocking GPS and infotainment systems. £35 including return. Much cheaper than Suzuki. All worked fine and they supplied a copy of the security code your record. You don't need to use a Suzuki dealer unless money is no object.

A dealer quoted me £170 I suppose plus vat and cant guarantee that they can find the code in which case they would probably try and sell you a new one . I found a company in Paignton Devon that charge £70 for a recode D N D services and they assure me they can do it . So I'm posting it after xmas here's hoping . The last 4 digits of the vin didnt work nor the white sticker in the glove box
