Hi all,
My 2004, 1.3 automatic recently developed engine stall at traffic lights. Before the traffic light car running normal and ok. Then stopped at traffic light, and engine stop. So annoying as needs to put to P then started the car and it’s running rough and choppy a few seconds and as soon as car moving it’s running normal.
Not always but it happened few times in recent day, car has 140K kilos and last oil changed was 10 months ago.

Pls share some knowledge to me.

Thanks in advanced.

do the basics, check or replace spark plugs, check lead connections, air filter element etc. Any MIL light? does it idle ok in park or N and rough in gear when stopped?

all the time or intermittently?

more symptoms please will aid in starting the diagnostic process.

Old thread but I have the same issue 2004 Ignis 5 door - 1/3 times at lights it either drops RPM to 200-ish, or stalls outright. Usually it is after driving for 10 or so minutes - When the RPM drops like that, the engine then seems "laboured" so I pull over asap as I don't want to thrash anything. Sometimes starts up again as normal, or labours again (future restarts fine). Full gas, no radio\AC on, temperature mid range as usual, no warning lights at all. One error code p0705 - local mechanic can't see anything wrong - having a Suzuki mechanic look at it on Monday as he mentioned he knows of issues in crank sensors and so on.

P0705 is the transmission range switch. That is unlikely to cause it.
Stuck or partially open EGR valve will give same symptoms as you describe. Crank sensors usually fail when hot and restarting immediately is usually not possible until they have cooled off a bit. Nit saying it isn't, but id be scoping the waveform with it hot, and checking the EGR circuit.

It occurs after 10 -15 minutes driving - I'd say it starts fine only 25% of the time and needs to sit for a bit. I believe it is an M13A (from the year)

Thanks for the info! Cheers

Managed to get it to a Suzuki mechanic who often works on Ignis cars new and old. He managed to track it to a coil, which was replaced and I have not had an issue in 48 hours (touch wood) -
What was happening was apparently the engine would cut down to 2 cylinders , hence all the racket and low RPM. The invoice simply says "Coil M Series"

This is my interpretation of what he said anyway (I know little about engines) but thought I'd post here in case anyone needs the info in future.

My Ignis has been loosing power in the middle of roundabouts and sometimes even getting out of my garage the back wheels shudder. I purchased it in march 2020.
Suski say there is nothing wrong with it but I have driven small trucks and all sorts of cars even my suski wagon and never had an issue like this.
It is very scary when you are in the middle of a roundabout and you put your foot down and it crawled along neatly having someone hit your rear. I even wrote to Japan but all they offered was to look at it or £500 off a new car. Even had the check to suggest they give me a driving lesson . I have driven for 47 years and never had a problem like this.
Any ideas as to what is happening. 12.000 on the clock.
