Clunking noise

I did a search and found a bunch of stuff about this but nothing that really helped. So basically I get a very distinct clunking noise when going over even the slightest bump. Turning or not doesnt matter speed doesnt seem to make a difference. When it makes the clunk sound you can actually feel it in the steering wheel no joke. It has been getting worse so the other day I got out and pushed down hard over the front drivers side wheel since that is where the sound is coming from. Obviously it was stopped and the engine was off. Just pushing down hard caused the clunking sound. Just wondering what could be causing it. It very recently had the ball joints replaced and the shop said the rest of the front end looked good. Thanks for any help.

dont drive it ,fix it.

down hard over the front drivers side wheel (where are hands and what direction)
surely ,down only compresses the tire (Hulk?)
you mean inward from top?
so if one person did that and the other looked ,youd see what moved.right.?

bad wheel bearings, (dangerous to extreme)
bad suspension parts.

Yeah my hands were justmon the hood like right above the tire pushing down enough to make shock compress a bit and no I am not a hulk. Sound only comes from drivers side right by wheel. I will get it looked at asap how much to fix if you had to guess.

Also the rig drives fine. It doesnt bounce excessively and the ride doesnt feel any different. The clunking is not constant only over bumps however slight. Goes straight down the road the steering wheel does not have excessive play or anything like that.

ok , you pushed car not tire. got you,
this is a no brain-er in any shop. (after all ,you can demonstrate it !)
easy pick'ns ( not intermittent, or only at 80mph it does.........?)

finding noise on the internet is kinda hard, the FSM chapter zero covers this.
all i can say, is use 2 men (or you and son or gf or wife etc ) and work as a team
and wiggle and listen.
wiggle, bend , shake, twist. i use a 2x4" 3' long and pry things
you wont hurt car , parked.
if it clucks, gee, Harbor fright(pun) sells this dirt cheap stethoscope, for finding noise sources....

bad strut.
bad tie rod end
or like my 91 ,day 1, i inspect all cars end to end,Day 1. its my life.
i found the left front wish bone bolt (nut )missing, and bolt was just about to drop.
amazing what just eyes on all bolts under car can reveal.
and a full brake inspection (leaks, cracks, missing parts, road damage to lines...
i check rotors for cracks , real careful. imagine a rotor locking at speed. look man.
i then check the rotor with my dial indicator (mag base ) top see if wheel bearings are shot. this takes like 5min after wheel is off.

i can think of many things wrong with a joist bounce noise.
wheel bearings.
front suspension bad. (lots of ways)
caliper loose, pin dropped?"
strut internal damage in the dampener.?
my best at noise. (weak)

Had similar issue with my 2008 SX4 1.6 AWD.
A distinct clunking noise from frond left part of the car over the sightliest bumps and constant clunking when off road/gravel. The noise started when i underestimated a pothole and drove through, i wend over it very slow actually (1-2 kph) but heard it hinting under the vehicle.
So i knew that i had damaged something.
Also during 130-160 kph (i do not usually speed that much) the car would vibrate and the vibration would happen also when braking from highway speeds. When the car was stopped when turning the steering wheel a bit left to right could hear the noise from outside the car left frond.
Took the car to a mechanic for inspection and told me that the car looked good underneath and inner and outer tie rods, suspension, ball joints were in good condition and the problem could originate from damaged CV joints as he found them leaking grease (boots were ok) and/or damaged break rotors (vibration during breaking).
Replaced rotors and CV joints but nothing has changed. Googled a bit and replaced sway bar bushings and end links with big improvement. Vibration during braking and high speeds was gone but the clunking noise over bumps was still there.
took it to a suzuki specialist and also to dealership for inspection, the Suzuki specialist drove the car and inspected it and told me that the problem (could) be with the fond strut damaged as he saw same case which cost around €1200 + labor.
The dealership kept the car for a day and told me that the complete rack and pinion system of the car (electric steering wheel) including inner and outer tie rods replaced which cost €450 + labor.
I dont know how to proceed in this case, trust the suzuki specialist that saw similar case, or the dealership? Both told me that this could not cause an accident or cause a failure while driving but should be replaced.
Any advice for that?
