Notes on an inoperative passenger window on a "new-to-me" 2016 car, 42,000 miles.
1. test motors with another 12V source, reversing the wiring to test up and down. Discounts all those parts from being faulty.
2. Passenger window switch. These are cheap - £14 from Sims in UK if you are ordering service stuff anyway. I bought new as I lost a ball bearing from inside the switch, (which I latterly think was fine before).
3. Assuming problem is still there - I identified the motor plug had been removed by previous owner [grr]. The 'up' did not work... even with new switch added. I turned to the drivers side master switch AND took off some panels to look at the wiring which I SUSPECT runs down into the sill side, then across the crossmember under the front seat. I was suspicious of a fault in the wiring in the door jambs, but the wiring look perfect so I turned to the Master switch first.
4. NEW Genuine Suzuki CELERIO Power Window Switch RIGHT 37990-84M11 is about £135 from Sims in UK. So I followed an Indian youtube for the Baleno, and saw that the switch seemed to be the same as an earlier Baleno.
See from about 3mins08 for the useful bit. You don't need translation or to understand more than the visuals.
Just the images showed that the switch for the passenger side was of different manufacture to the passnger one. And it MUST override the working of the passenger one too, as I found the fault by stripping as per the video and re-assembly. The metal cages may need to be squeezed with pliers to hold them on the top of the reassembed parts.
5. CARE THAT YOU HAVE CHECKED THAT THE OVERRIDE SWITCH ON THE MASTER PANEL IS NOT DOWN BEFORE DOING ALL THIS!
6. All assembled; cost £14 and a couple of the white spring clips for the door card panel. Make sure you tighten the two brackets which hold the doorpull area to the door card (and the door. Mine had worked loose a bit)
Note: easier to diagnose the drivers side as there isn't a subsidiary switch to complicate.
