Back hatch leaking when it rains. Water accumulated in spare tire well.

My USA 2009 Suzuki SX4 1.6L has started leaking water through the back hatch. I believe it is leaking in the top gunnel, either through the electrical harness feeds(s), possibly the hatch hinge(s) or the gasket. I am waiting for some warmer weather where I can clean the area well. I was going to use some black silicone sealent to prevent water intrusion. Any guidance or suggestions?

I am certain the leak is in the upper portion of the hatch opposed to water running down the channel tracks and entering at the latch. The last big rain I had some water drops falling from the interior roof.

Yours got the aerial on the roof just forward of the hatch ? I'd start there first if it does, common leak point across most of the suzuki models.

I'm not aware that the SX4 was ever sold in the USA with the 1.6.

Only the J20A was offered ,to my knowledge...Is it possible that a 1.6 could be an import from central or south America ?

Mine was leaking too. Yoy can solve it with only one way. Best is to open holes in the four circle lower surface in the spare tire. If a ton of water goes in there it will all drain out. So you don't have to search the whole vechicle for bad sealand. Believe me this car has not a good factory sealing application.
