will certainly keep everyone informed about how this fluid is going but not having any choice but to use these products as several of the dealers have told me, regarding: SUZUKI ATF 3317 - they have NO listing for this product?? perhaps it's available in another country...
Where abouts are you in the world?

Hey dkguffe, Yes read the manual and every post on this site, i am a mechanic by trade of 15 years and now how important the correct fluid is that is why i rang the dealership, several in fact with no listing on the fluid in the manual, one of the dealerships recommended dx3 which even i know is rubbish so just imagine what they are putting in if they can't even get it right, any way it was just my experience for the day. PS i actually spoke the penrite and castrol tech support on the fluid and both the descriptions given are what they told me direct.
Oh well.

I don't think I would be game enough to try anything but what's in the manual, considering other peoples experiences.

Let us know how you go, it's always interesting to see if alternatives work.

For the record, the service manual lists these two : SUZUKI ATF 3317 or Mobil ATF 3309

Hi everyone just wanted to let everyone know about the auto fluid these grand vitara's use. I rang my locaal suzuki dealership today to get some flluid for my auto he told me that they did not have a listing go to repco, so i rang another dealership told me they only use castrol products, so rang another dealership in a different state and was told the same thing except he at least gave me a fluid type which is the same as listed on the castrol lubricants guide the only issue is you can not buy a 5 litre container you can only purchase a 20 litre drum and at $30 a litre not an option, so i just rang around my local transmission specialist and was able to buy from him the 4 litres needed the lsitings i found today where,

CASTROL:- Transmax E &
PENRITE :- ATFMHP
hope this helps some one else with the same issues.
Its all in the manual dude...

Not really sure if that one you list is recommended. Suzuki only lists two options, and apparently its monster important to follow their direction..

People have had issues with other products being different from the Suzuki numbers.
