Automatic headlight leveling?

On the car's dashboard I see the automatic headlight leveling indicator that lights up when the engine is started. So I guess I must have the automatic leveling device. Does anyone know where or what I should look to check that I really have it and if I do, how to check that it works? Thanks.

With the car pointing towards a wall or garage door preferably when it’s dark, start the engine then switch on the headlamps. If you have auto headlamp level adjustment and it’s operating correctly, you should see the beam moving up and down slightly as the system checks and adjusts the level. The check will not occur again until the engine is restarted.

Does this mean that leaving the engine running and adding a couple of fat passenger and their luggage in the back, that the auto adjust headlights is just a lie?
