Went to change my auto tranny filter today, after picking up parts from my local O'Reilly's. The filters look mostly identical... but... why do the gaskets appear different?
The passageways in the trans are rectangular and match the old gasket. But the new gasket has a round hole that is just... different. This seems odd, I think. That said, the right hand (per the above photos) passageway is still blocked off by the gasket - just differently. Obviously, the sealing surface on the trans is different as well due to the new gasket perimeter shape.
Anybody seen something like this? I ordered a WIX version today, and should get it late tomorrow to compare. If it matches the original, guess I'll return the "Power Torque" version.
But if it matches the Power Torque... guess the world has changed again... and I hope everyone knows what they're doing... or I'll just make an old-style gasket...
