I'm having shifting problems with my manual transmission. All forward gears are ok upshifting and all but 2nd is ok downshifting. Reverse is ok. On the 1-2 upshift, there is a slight "tick" going into second like the gears are not quite meshed but goes in ok. On the downshift from 3-2 there is no way it wants to go into second - if you try more pressure it just grinds.
With engine off or running but not moving, all gears are ok.
Here's a little history of the vehicle and what I've done recently.
I've had it for a year now, 95 tracker, 2 door, 4x4, 1.6l 16v, manual trans., has 156 K miles.
It had a bad pilot bearing so I removed the trans/t-case over the winter to repair. Found that someone had replaced the clutch previously and had used a 8.5" clutch with the 7.5" pressure plate. I replaced the pilot, TO bearings, and the clutch/pressure plate and replace the clutch cable - wasn't sure how old everything was.
Thought I'd be nice to it and changed all the fluids - engine oil, t-case, trans and front/rear diffs.
Clutch cable adjusted and measured for the Fix Kick 1" travel and all good.
Now I'm having the shifting problems. Not sure if maybe the trans fluid is to blame or what. I understand that the synchros are probably worn but I didn't have this problem before the work done.
Sorry for the long post but trying to give you guys as much info as possible.
