Unless your front end was in a collision and the the lights were replaced or readjusted, the beam pattern is not supposed to be in a straight horizontal line. The driver's side pattern is set so that the light is low enough not to blind oncoming drivers and also keep it out of the mirrors of the driver in front of you. The stock beam then cuts off halfway to the right diagonally up and to the right to illuminate more of the edge of the road and road signs. If you're in a country with right hand drive, then it's reversed.
