pre 2003 XL-7 workshop manual download.

See how you go with this (the website they're on is a PITA)

1. Download the file "top.pdf" and place it into a new folder of your choice (eg. name the folder "XL7".)

2. Create a folder named "Data" within the the "XL7" folder.

3. Download the remaining file groups to the "Data" folder. Each group of files must be put into the "Data" folder within a new sub folder labeled with the same folder name as is used on the download website.

4. Once all the files are downloaded they can be accessed via the "top.pdf" file. Open that file and then select the XL-7 option. That should then take you to a menu that lists all the pdf documents applicable for the XL-7. Then click on whatever section you want.

EDIT: All files for SQ series and XL-7 pre 2003 are now available. But in English only....

The downloads are all located here. ALL the folders need to be downloaded:

mondeost24 - eSnips Profile

Click on the links for each section above. When the page opens scroll down the page to the "Files" section. Click on each file to begin the download process. Another page will open and give a preview of the document - click on the "download" option directly beneath the document preview and the file download will then begin.

Thanks for the feedback.

I've fixed up the top.pdf issue; the other folder name isn't the problem (as such)- there was another folder I missed uploading that did have that same name but with the underscores instead of the dashes. So I've uploaded that one as well.

Strange, because I think they've got the same info in them?

Well - here's the thing.

I've had some of these pdfs for a while and fiddled some and there really is only one manual with the 99501-65D01-01E part number, who ever set up the links in top.pdf that calls the individual pdfs uses whatever name and path he (or she) chooses, which is why some of the individual pdfs have names (like Sq420WD) rather than part numbers (SQ420WD is actually 99500-68D00-01E)

You could, if you felt so inclined, rename all of the pdf files and directories to be consistent, as long as you were prepared to edit a few of them - top.pdf, the manual lists in the subdata folder & a few of the others that are two part manuals and call one another from links in the table of contents. Shouldn't be difficult, but - it works the way it is, and if it's not broke ....

I cannot get anything to open. I'm using Foxit instead of Adobe, could that be the reason I can't open anything? Please advise. I'm not even sure of what I'm doing. I need more detailed guidance on downloading, saving, and opening these files (that I can't seem to find so easy). Sorry, could someone help.

Are these download supposed to be the Suzuki "service manual" showing how to work on a Suzuki XL-7?

Many thanks to you Murcod, this is an excellent post.

The process was a bit difficult to figure out but I'm a novice at doing such downloads. But I finally figured it out, so it couldn't be that bad.

Again, many Kudo's and much thanks to you Murcod.

P.S. I'm not sure you're able to use Foxit with this download. I had Foxit and had trouble downloading/opening. If anyone is using Foxit and have trouble downloading/reading it, try uninstalling Foxit and install Adobe Reader. It worked for me.....may have been just a glitch. I like Foxit because it's not a "hog" like Adobe Reader but for this I used Adobe.

QUOTE=Frustrated Vitara Owner;173021]Hi everyone,

I need to know how do you remove and replace front wheel bearings on a '95 vitara?
I was told the front wheel bearing on my daughter's XL-7 had to be replaced but it was just loose. The bearing retaining nut had worked itself loose. I tightened the nut and I was done.

I have no idea how much different the Vitara and the XL-7 is. But why don't you just dive into it and find out what you need. Some of these jobs are much simpler than you think. I put in a good 8 hours trying to find out how to do the job just like you......but in the end, if you take the wheel off and have a look you might just be able to figure it out yourself.

The XL-7 required a special tool that has 4 prongs on it.....you can get the kit from Advance Auto and others like Auto Zone at no cost. Pay to take it out of the shop and they give you your money back when you return it. Can't beat that. But again, I don't even know if you need a special tool. You can work around the need for special tool on the XL-7 by using a blunt nose punch and a hammer.

Good luck to you Frustrated Vitara owner. I Googled the Vitara and it's a neat looking vehicle.....bet it's not that much different than the XL-7 when it comes to the wheel bearing.........just do it man.....give yourself several hours of time and go for it.

At least take a look and see what you need. That's easy.....
1. take the wheel off using a lug wrench as if changing a tire
2. remove the brake pads (this requires that you remove one bolt).....easy beans....after taking the one bolt out pull the brake assembly off of the rotor and use a bungy cord or metal clothes hanger wire to hang the assembly from something in the wheel well so it's out of your way for the time being.
3. take the brake rotor off....it just flops around after the brake pad assembly is removed....slip it right off.
Now you'll be able to see what you need to do about the wheel bearing.

If you can't remove and replace the brake pads and rotor you shouldn't be messing with it at all. But it truly is easy to do.

Call a Suzuki shop and ask to speak to a mechanic or better yet "the parts clerk"......he can look it up on his computer and tell you exactly what you'll need to do that job. This is probably your best bet.....then come back here and tell us how easy it was. OK? Promise?

95' Vitara? Not in this section of the forum, but you WILL find an abundance of info pertaining to your situation over here...

Then for instance...

And when you first post, tell people which engine, 4WD or 2WD, where you are located and if your ride is something other than a USA spec vehicle (i.e. Euro, Jap, Caribbean, Aus / NZ for instance). They all have model peculiarities is why. ;)

That's what I'm trying to avoid lol... If anybody has a proper working set up, do us all a favour and zip your main folder up. After, upload it to - Sharebee.com, the one and only online file hosting distribution service. . I'm sure many of us will appreciate your efforts. Heck, I'll sweeten the deal. Whoever does this first, leave your email in the post or PM me your paypal email and I'll send you 2 dollars for your efforts.

I actually uploaded the whole lot to the Esnips site within two weeks of my original post. Refer to the first and second post in this thread. ;)

(The above zipped figure however also includes all language versions of the manual- which haven't been uploaded to Esnips, only the English versions is on there.)

This format really sucks. I was following the PITA download and found that:

99500-65D20-01E_vol2.pdf is damaged (or doesn't exist or else...)

and after the 52d10 folder esnips doesn't allow me to download any more files.

Just jumps to a stupid page that wants me to join. I did but it keeps redirecting me to that page when I try to download. I guess it wants me to download the executable file to the desktop etc. etc.

Isn't there a simple way? Isn't there a ZIP file somewhere else that perserves all the folders with the files in the right places? :(

ok I have everything working and this is just a quick post to help all the people that couldn't put it to work.

Go to the folder subdata Notice the file names there? They have % in it. That's rubbish.

i.e. one of the files should be ManualList(SQ)_1 and not the %28 %29 characters that are in the file name.

If my english is broken (as the file names) go to esnips site, look at the names of the files in the subdata folder and change your local names accordingly.

I alredy identified my specific model and from what I could see there's a file missing in the 99501_65D01_01E folder. I guess there should be a bookcover.pdf file there because there is a broken bookmark to that file inside SQ416_E.pdf.

But that is irrelevant. I just checked the files for my version. Maybe there is something missing for other GV versions.

Have fun repairing your GV and thanks to the topic owner for making this great info available.
