The A/C is nice when it is hot, but only where it is actually blowing if I am traveling on the highway. The top is hardly airtight, so all the cool air is lost.

I installed a Bestop Windjammer with the top still on, and have found that the A/C actually cools the front seat area now.

Where I needed all of the vents blowing on me to be comfortable at 90F, I now find that I can point half of them at my passenger and we are both cool. It is not as nice as the A/C in a hard-top vehicle, or even my girlfriend's Miata, but it now effective and MUCH better than no A/C at all.

Too bad you can't get the 'good' rear curtains anymore. They would attach to the same slides on the sides of the targa as the full top to make an almost airtight seal. It worked even better when trying to keep heat inside during the winter months.
