hi guys,

im new to this site and i also have a suzuki scrum here in cebu. i have been thinking of buying new set of wheels for my van. i have a weird case here that u might wanna read.

im planning to have 2 sets of wheels for my scrum, since this is the only vehicle that i have. i use my zuki going to the office and also going to our province in bogo almost twice a month. :(

example: each set has their own RIMS.
set A: 13" with 50 series yokohama tires - city
set B: 13" with stock tires (PUJ's multicabs) -rural trips

ive got couple of questions here that you might wanna check out:

1. if i will have set A and B aligned, will the car keep the alignment or the wheels(rims)?

2. will this create some kinda damage on the car?

3. do you have any idea on how much a 50 series tire would cost nowdays? nankang or yokohama...

Tires and alignment

You can changeyour tire size and that has no relationship to the alignment. If you have the job done properly,the struts are good and secure,the centre post bushing is good then go ahead and change at will.
You may have a clearance problem between the tire and the inside fender lip, specially turning and u hit a bump. If that happens,disconnect the struts at the top.Thats an easy job. Cut two 3 hole flanges from the tread of a truck tire to fit over the top of the strut.Use longer studs and tighten up again to about 20Lbs on a torgue wrench.
You will have a good look,good clearance as well.

Hello, I forgot to mention and all you Carry owners might note:There is no such thing as wheel alignment on these units.The specifications are all preset by the builders and can't be altered.It is all reative,so all the parts need to be in good condition,so the setup is right. The only adjustment that can be made properly is toe in/out!
The caster,camber,etc is factory set and not adjustable. In an accident,well it's just hammer and hope like hell!!! Sorry!!!

I don't really like correcting people but maybe it is that you are not trained in the area of wheel alignment. Changing your vehicles tires can affect your wheel alignment. A tyre with a larger rolling diameter requires you to correct the toe settings and a wider tyre requires you to possibly, not always, change the castor and camber settings. Factory specs go right out the window. It comes down the to knowledge of a experienced technician to adjust the alignment accordingly. End of the day I would set alignment to the set of tyres that you would be using the most, or the tyres that cost the most, provided you can find a wheel alignment technician that knows what they are doing. Unfortunately there aren't many in the world.

Sorry dude I not trying to pick on you. Some adjustments aren't as obvious as others. Camber is adjustable, but not independently from side to side. The subframe can be moved as the 4 mounting holes are larger than the bolts that go through them allowing you to balance out the camber but it affects the castor (just the way the suspension is designed), which can be adjusted with shims.

As I've posted just before. Get your wheel alignment set to your most expensive or most used tyre, your choice. I would say that the 50 series would be quite pricey. I would be setting the wheel alignment to that set. How to set the wheel alignment up? Well there is a few more factors involved. For example how wide the tyre is over factory? Are you using factory rims? Are they the correct offset? etc etc There are some seriously fat tyres that you can put on these things without any major issues. I run some 225/50r12.5 on the rear of mine when I go down the beach. I've even found a guy who runs them on the front as well. Check this shit out 106619289_full.jpg

I actually can see you are more worried in changing tires than just in mere aligning them. Because if you're not worried about your 50series tires running thru your province's thoroughfares, I tell you there is more bloated ego here than meets your provincial kababayans' eyes. So why the need of changing tires when pointing to your provincial map, when there is more costly a time and efforts and money too? But if you deem it more money saving to run your 50series all the time than keeping hassles of changing and aligning your fronties, why the hell bother? Dude, I say, enjoy your zuki, and let others drool, even if they're just in the province.

50series, rim#13, flat 185 = P3,850.00 each.
(or better yet, try second hands...)
