I have standard steel wheels and need to buy a new set of tyres. Anyone recommend what brand of tyres suit the Ignis for normal driving conditions (no snow in Australia)?

Gee, nearly 40 views and no comments!!

Anyway, some more info for you lurkers - I've done 70,000km on the original set of Dunlop SP10s which I find amazing since I've been told you should expect 30-40,000km on a set. I can't claim to be a sedate driver either. Must be the light weight of the car.

I've done a bit more investigating and the original tyres (165/70R 14) aren't too popular so the same tyres are going to cost a bit more. I've been told I can put more common 175/65R 14's tyres on the standard steel 4 1/2" rims which will give me more choices of less expensive tyres. The followinf have been suggested:

Bridgestone RE92 (good reviews, popular, quiet, long-life)
Yokahama S760 (good reviews)
Kumho 769 (good reviews)
Firestone T7100 (recommended, quiet)

So any comments or do you all have high performance tyres on 16" alloys?

Anyone do better than 70,000kms on a set of tyres?

A few years back I worked at a tyre shop for a few months... Would recommend the Kumho & Yokohama's, avoid the others. You'll typically pay a little more, but think you'll find it's worth it.
